Why is Bongbong Marcos the Vice President of the Philippines? Simple. Because presumtive “vice president” Leni Robredo was originally disqualified from taking office. And it was not just Robredo who was disqualified. The entire Liberal Party lineup in the 2016 elections was effectively disqualified.
Recall, following the conclusion of those elections, Robredo’s running mate and Liberal Party presidential candidate Mar Roxas as well as the Liberal Party itself failed to meet the deadline imposed by the Commission on Election (COMELEC) on the submission of their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) — a violation of Section 14 of Republic Act 7166 which stipulates that “No person elected to any public offices shall enter upon the duties of his office until he has filed the statement of contributions and expenditures herein required.” Further to that, COMELEC rules applicable to the 2016 elections set a deadline on the 8th of June 2016 that is “final and non-extendible” and that submissions after this date will not be accepted. The LP had violated these rules.

As if Robredo’s disqualification from taking the VP office was not enough, allegations of massive electoral fraud continue to cast black clouds of doubt over the results of the vice presidential race. The integrity of the COMELEC has been put to question thanks to its primary technology vendor Smartmatic being caught out in anomalous procedures surrounding the handling of the electronic counting machines they supplied in those elections.
The only reason Robredo is regarded by many in the Opposition as the current “vice president” is because (1) she was given a lot of help by the then powers-that-be to circumvent all of the rules she and the LP violated, (2) evidence of electoral fraud was systematically covered-up by the COMELEC, and (3) Smartmatic personnel were allowed to quietly slip out of the country and evade investigation. This is all thanks to all the lackeys of former president Benigno Simeon ‘BS’ Aquino III being in the right positions at the time to oversee and coordinate the various covert and underhanded operations surrounding these three initiatives.
Finally, and most evident of all, Robredo has not achieved anything as “vice president”. Within the first few months of the Duterte administration, she managed to get herself kicked out of the Cabinet and, after that, stumbled through a series of public relations disasters that earned her the ire of the public and, worse, turned her office into a national laughingstock. To be fair, the VP is not exactly expected to do much other than be prepared to step up as president in the event the President is incapacitated. That scenario is not seen to be one that will pan out well considering she will, in the event she needs to, be effectively walking into a den of lions and would have to deal with a Congress that does not think much of her. Indeed, even her own supporters would be hard-pressed to imagine her as an actual acting president of the republic.
Robredo owes her being the perceived VP of the Philippines (for now) to the dishonest acts of top LP henchmen who abused their authority over their remaining days in the COMELEC and the Justice and Immigration Departments as well as a “cooperative” news media industry that helped bury stories and evidence that would have helped expose all of this dishonesty.
In short, the “vice presidency” of Leni Robredo is built upon a vast foundation of dishonesty. To be fair, Filipinos too will have to bear some of the responsibility for routinely allowing or turning a blind eye to the routinely dishonest and disrespectful behaviour of their public servants. It’s high time this lackadaisical attitude is corrected and public officials more rigorously held to account for their actions by the public.
benign0 is the Webmaster of GetRealPhilippines.com.
The “fairness” shown and afforded to Bongbong Marcos’ camp is amazingly slow and expensive while Robredo is given special treatment, while those who are presiding this is known to have ties to the last administration with partisan conflicts of interest. This is integrity and fairness afforded to their political enemies while they preach about “Daang Matuwid” and scream about their Marcos boogeyman.
People wonder, why are the Marcoses back? Is it because of fake news? No! It’s because the professed anti-Marcoses are themselves corrupt. Don’t blame the messenger for the bad news. Bad news is bad no matter the messenger.
Leni Robredo, is a phony Vice President. She was elected thru the HOCUS PCOS and SMARTMAGIC voting machine. Former COMELEC Chairman Bautista, was bribed to alter the results of the Vice Presidential election results. He is now enjoying his loot…Leni Robredo’s election, was Paln B, of the Aquino Cojuangco political axis, to invalidate the election of Pres. Duterte. On the onset of Pres. Duterte’s term; there was an EJK investigation in the Senate by, the nymphomaniac and the drug dealer, Leila de Lima, and the dude with one testicle, Trillanes.
There was a vigorous move to impeach Pres. Duterte, and replace him, with Leni Robredo. The Plan B, did not materialize. They moved on Plan C: to ask for foreign support to oust Pres. Duterte. It had only a small effect. So, they are now back in “Square One”, planning for a Plan D.
The mainstream media , is still there as their Propaganda Machine. However, they are in hard battle with the wicked internet trolls, and the evil internet bloggers.
The Supreme Court is still their running dog; Lourdes Sereno is there, along with appointed Justices of Pnoy Aquino. They are delaying the recounts of votes.
I congratulate, Ferdinand Marcos , Jr., if he is now the Vice President. We hope, you will do a good job, in helping Pres. Duterte, improve our country.
Because of self-doubt, the fear of failure, or laziness, most people usually bite off way less than they can chew.
That goes to so-called “VP” Maria Leonor “Leni” Gerona Robredo.
According to every single search I conducted on-line, THE Vice-President of the Republic of the Philippines is Leni Robredo. It doesn’t matter who did what to who or why: ROBREDO is the seated VICE PRESIDENT of the country.
SO, what was the fare paid for the article written by and for the benefit of the Marcos family ? THERE IS A QUESTION, EH? All the wishful thinking in the world will not change the fact of who is the seated VP of the country, BUT, that matters little as neither the President or the Vice-President run the country. They take their orders from the richest people in the country. The SI’s and TAN’s of the country, as well as the USA Dept of State.
SO, if anyone thinks they live in a democracy or that Rodrigo Dueterte runs anything BUT HIS MOUTH, WAKE THE FUCK UP ALREADY !!! The Oligarchs and the USA run the Philippines, and that is really all there is to it….it has been this way for a very long time and do not expect anything to change.
I can see that you’re totally ignorant about what happened in the 2016 elections…
That’s why nobody is taking Leni Robredo seriously. Because the more she opens her mouth, the stupider she looks.
KRChronicle,
You are lost! He already said “it doesn’t matter who did what to who or why: Robredo is the SEATED vice president”
And as of this time, Robredo is still the vice president unless stated otherwise by the authorized body like the Supreme Court. Only SC can have the final say, not you and benigno. And it doesn’t matter what your speculations are against her. It will not count anything without concrete evidence. SC justices will just laugh at you.
Hence, as i see it you are really a fan with that conspiracy theory. You better shoot yourself because you are stupid more than you think you are!!!!!!
Nice AD HOMINEM, son. Like him, you’re also missing the point.
I mean, seriously, what happened is that Bongbong is leading while suddenly when you wake up in the morning then Robredo is leading the polls; it’s like overnight. I was like, “What the hell is going on?”
And then my relatives in Basilan called us through my cousin and they shared their story: when one of them is going to the nearest voting precinct, they found out the whole precinct is closed as they were told: “hindi na kelangan pumasok. Nakaboto na kayo.” For them, they have no idea what’s really going on. Then it is later revealed that most the ballots are pre-shaded and guess what: it’s all in favor on the Liberal Party candidates. Too bad the media didn’t even focus on this. So sometimes, Bongbong’s electoral protest somewhat makes sense. This is no conspiracy theory either way, it’s more of a experience.
Also, pot calling on the kettle black. You’re always a fan of conspiracy theories in the first place, always spouting Yellow(?) Propaganda that kept the country in the dark for over 30 years, not to mention your childish antagonization on this page and its writers. Better for you to set your priorities for once and take your trolling to somewhere else. Because being EMO in these kind of discussions is for the weak and insecure and you should remember that no one is persuaded by being insulted or labeled. Unfortunately, you failed.
And Jonathan Pie was right…
@ KRChronicel, all your wishfull thinking makes NOTHING CHANGE ! Robredo is the VP of the country, NOT BING-BONG MARCOS, so get over yourself ya fuckin idiot !
This is more of an insight than wishful thinking, telling you what’s really going on back then and telling you that electoral fraud still persists, no matter who’s doing it.
Next time you reply back to me is that you’re wishing that Robredo should be president of the Philippines rather than Duterte. I hate to tell you this: she’ll be just another Noynoy Aquino if that happens. That is YOUR wishful thinking.
It should be YOU should get over yourself because getting angry at one tainted surname makes you lose your credibility. And it shows, unfortunately.
Pinot Citizen:
The end justifies the means; even if you cheat massively. What a scumbag !
Pinot citizen;
The end justifies the means;even if you cheat in elections. What a humbug !
>>Finally, and most evident of all, Robredo has not achieved anything as “vice president”.
The OFVP will probably snap back waving their pro-poverty “lugaw feeding program” called …
Angat Buhay.
But yes I agree – it ain’t any achievement when it’s all about seeking validation in some perpetual “election campaign mode”. Happy photo-op-filled year Leni!
And to all the mendicant Filipinos out there – better stay poor to remain qualified for all the government-sponsored freebies in the Land of the Free.
i cant wait for martial law to happen! yellow blood will spill!
Do you mention Salagintong Bukid? Let’s mention that that we need an iron fist of the gov’t.
@Propaganda Boy:
The problem with impersonating shitstains like yourself is that you have no credibility so you resort to bullying and shitposting instead. Again,s that’s not how it works.
I don’t know if BBM is the real VP.
Writing against Aquinos would make you pro-Marcos loyalist.
@Propaganda Boy:
*sigh* You’re at it again with your impersonations, trollfag.
Because to you, humans are machines that you can constantly throw rocks and expect them not to feel. That’s not how it works.
The false dichotomy playbook as usual.
