Insane Mar Roxas comic book proves he is the true historical revisionist

Interesting that lobbing charges of “historical revisionism” upon vice presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos has become a popular fashion statement amongst pro-administration “activists”. Leading the charge is the faculty of the Ateneo de Manila University which recently thrust the esteemed Jesuit-run institution of learning into the partisan fray after 400 of its members signed a statement condemning Marcos for supposedly bending the truth about “atrocities” allegedly committed under the government of his farther, the late former President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

But who is the real historical revisionist?

The camp of Liberal Party presidential candidate Mar Roxas has gone the whole nine yards publishing a comic book portraying a revised account of Roxas’s role in the Typhoon Haiyan disaster that left tens of thousands of Filipinos dead in late 2013. The comic book titled Sa Gitna ng Unos (“In the midst of a storm”) was reportedly the project of “supporters of the Liberal Party standard-bearer” and is endorsed by the Daang Matuwid Coalition. According to its spokesman, Akbayan Rep. Barry Gutierrez (translated from Tagalog to Engish in the Interaksyon.com report)…

The comics were produced by supporters who want to inform our countrymen of all that Mar did during Yolanda. This was done because of all the lies being peddled about all that he did. As a comic book, it naturally dramatizes. The truth about all that Mar did during Yolanda has long been established. His record is clear, and we stand by this.

The cover handily encapsulates the theme of this historical revision of what happened in the horrific days when the planet’s most powerful storm in history hit the Philippines. Filipinos, suffice to say, were not impressed. Manila Times columnist Katrina Stuart-Santiago, in a widely-shared Facebook post had this to say…

I don’t know where the gall and temerity, the kabastusan of this matuwid-na-daan comes from, but apparently none of the things we know about Typhoon Haiyan, none of the stories of those who survived, none of the reports that talked about the inefficiency and insensitivity and lack of compassion of this government, none of that matters.

Because now Mar Roxas is a hero in his own comics, which is so obviously about the strongest storm to ever make landfall, and so obviously NOT about how he and his government messed up rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in Samar and Leyte.

But real eyewitness accounts of the way Roxas conducted himself as leader of the Philippine government’s disaster response operations back then reveal anything but heroism. Get Real Post writer Ilda observed during the height of the ineffective relief operations being undertaken by the Philippine government at the time how the true lame character of then Department Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Roxas was all but exposed in an interview with CNN reporter Andrew Stevens…

Stevens appeared frustrated over not getting an accurate assessment of the relief and rescue efforts from Roxas considering they were both in the disaster zone. It was as if they were both seeing the same thing – chaos, survivors begging for food and water and dead bodies lying around – except that the DILG secretary still insisted that the situation was under control.

Even more outrageous is that in the midst of the chaos and unnecessary loss of life reigning around his, by then, evidently botched handling of the disaster, Roxas remained a true-blue Liberal Party politician. Not one to miss an opportunity to remind Mayor Alfred Romualdez of Tacloban City, epicentre of the astounding tragedy unfolding at the time, of the bigger scheme of things surrounding the occasion, Roxas let loose the most memorable quote of the disaster during a crisis meeting…

You’re a Romualdez and the President is an Aquino. We just want to legalize this. If it’s not legalized then, ok, you’re in charge. Bahala kayo sa buhay niyo.

Again, Get Real Post writer Ilda, does not mince words in her interpretation of the Secretary’s position on the matter of the terms of the national government’s delivery of assistance to the embattled mayor…

It is undeniable that all that Roxas wanted was for Romualdez to put in writing that he was unable to function as the Mayor. He wanted it for the record.

The full video of the meeting follows for reference.

Lottie Salarda, a writer who resides in Tacloban City who saw enough of how Roxas “handled” preparations through to the response in the aftermath of the storm was right when she wrote in a Facebook post, “To all Roxas supporters, I’m sorry but your Presidential candidate is insane.”

How much more blatant insanity in both Roxas and his legions of emo supporters will Filipino voters continue to turn a blind eye to? It remains to be seen.

  1. This kind of ironic comic ads is a sign of political act of lasciviousness! It simplifies political prostitution as whole (not the other word rhyming folks!).

  2. Mar Roxas should really fire out now every ad person in his employ. They are now committing every mortal sin in marketing, textbook-wise. Their blunders will show on May 9; as the sun rises from the east; Roxas will now be smothered beyond recognition that day.

Rule #1: When desperate, avoid any push strategy. A push will just confirm to the market you are desperate. Desperation assures the win of competition.

Rule #2: When it involves a defective product, pull it out immediately from the shelves and pipelines. If it can’t be saved, don’t add insult to injury by repackaging the product. Just make the public aware you have discarded the product. …(Why doesn’t Mar consider now throwing in the towel? At least, he keeps whatever reputation he still has.)

Rule #3: If product can be saved, the public will expect the truth of what happened. This has to be communicated with sincerity by addressing ALL the concerns and complaints of
consumers. Expect the worst of reactions, and RELAX. Apprehension only repels consumers, and nothing can be achieved by ignoring their concerns.

Rule #4: A pull strategy is still the best in a desperate situation. The market is more important than the product. …(The reason why the public see Mar as insincere and a liar. Doubly funny, because he is talking of Daan Matuwid.)

A GOOD PRODUCT DOES NOT NEED ADVERTISING. A LOUSY PRODUCT CANNOT BE HELPED BY ANY ADVERTISING.

    1. A bad product can not be forced to the buying public. A good product can sell by itself… and by words of mouth of the satisfied customer …Mar Roxas the worst product , can not be repackaged thru Lies and Deceptions. The consumers know who Mar Roxas is…you can no longer fool the voters who are long tired of the sugar coated Lies of the Aquino Administration.

    2. Mar’s PR machine must be from the entertainment industry. Ask for solid platforms, they will give you buffoonery. Real zombies won’t even dare eat their brain. Here’s hoping that they will continue showing Roxas-Aquino’s true colors because people are getting really pissed.

“In politics stupidity is not a handicap.” ~ Napoleon Bonaparte

  3. Mar Roxas wanted to become a Hero. He has never been a hero. So, he made himself a “hero” in a Comics Magazine…unfortunately, Comic Magazines are for children. Mar Roxas may have been thinking: the Filipino children, who read Cmomic Magazines, will be able to vote for him, as President.

If this is not , a mental illness , called: Paranoia…what is this? Mar Roxas in “Neverland”?

Mar Roxas should portray himself, as Pinnochio, instead, because, he is a Liar. Pinnochio’s nose grow longer , as he keeps lying.

Or, Mar Roxas could dress, himself, as : “Superman”, “Captain America”, “Captain Philippines”, “Batman”, “Lone Ranger”, “Robbin”, etc…

What a country we have…leaders suffering from : Depression; Paranoia; or some kind of personality disorders…

Aquino bought, himself, an Honorary PhD, to prove himself: he is a well educated and accomplished man. Mar Roxas, put himself, as a “Hero”, in a Comic Magazine, to convince himself, he is a more than a mortal.

Are these people sane? We need a good Psychiatrist, for these people…they have some serious ,”kiriring sa mga tutuk, nila”…

  4. It would be good to point out exactly what in the comics are not true. That’s what is good about history we can always revisit and look at the facts.

  5. Pnoy and mar has brought lying and stupidity to the nth degree. Shocking! I guess they wake up very early to make so many stupid mistakes in a day.

  6. Huh. Did not know philippine comics were still being made. Either way, information can be easily fabricated in this country. And everyone buys it.

  7. Here’s a thought: maybe his PR team hates him more than anyone. Think of it: everywhere he goes, everything he does, its a PR nightmare. It’s almost comical (pun intended)! The mr. palengke antics, the fast forward music video, now this. They are doing an exemplary job in demolishing the man’s public image more than any well written article by showing how douchey he is (because the masses understand pictures and video more than written words). I want a copy of this comic book, i may probably find hidden “fuck you’s” littered all over it (if it isnt already a work of satire onto itself). So kudos to the artist and writer of this abomination.

  8. This guy.
Seriously. I want to kill this idiot running for president. He is one of the most infuriarity people you see on the news right beside that obviously spoiled sick in the head president.

  9. Mar Roxas, you’re a shit! A Hero? why What exactly did you do during those desperate moments? – Shake hands , photo ops? You cannot even equal what Mayor Romualdez did always doing what was good for the people! Yet you have the gots to tell him “We need to legalize this”? Power-hungry – you, Mr. Roxas.

  10. We know of no spectacle more ridiculous — or more contemptible — than that of the religious reactionaries who dare to re-write the history of our republic. Or who try to do so. Is it possible that, in their vanity and stupidity, they suppose that they can erase the name and replace it with the name of some faith-based mediocrity whose name is already obscure? If so, we cheerfully resolve to mock them, and to give them the lie in their teeth.

  11. The yellows accuse others of revisionism, but they’re actually the ones who do it all the time.

Exhibit A: The CIA documents declassified a few days ago confirmed that Cory Aquino, the supposed patron saint of democracy, asked for deadly US military intervention during the 1989 coup. The Americans turned her down because it would be too complicated for them to kill Filipinos.

Exhibit B: The open letter of the Malacanang Press Corps accused Martin Andanar and the Duterte admin of being unfair to them. But these vicious yellow journalists are the ones who have been using every dirty trick possible to destroy the President’s reputation.

Exhibit C: The yellow senators Kiko Pangilinan, Antonio Trillanes, and Bam Aquino are asking for an investigation on fake news and social media trolls. But the yellows are actually the ones running an organized propaganda machine that uses anonymous Facebook accounts and sponsored posts to malign President Duterte and build up Leni Robredo.

So, if ever you have a hard time figuring out what’s real and what’s not, all you have to do is look at what the yellows are doing, and you’ll know the opposite is true.

Dear Malacanang Press Corps: Grow up. Last week, Donald Trump shot down a CNN reporter and called CNN “fake news” during a live press conference airing all over the world. Did the CNN reporter or the White House press corps write a whiney open letter to complain? No. They know the drill. You shit on a public figure, you better be ready if he shits back at you. It’s par for the course.

I hope Martin Andanar has enough sense not to coddle these media crybabies. Their open letter is a peer pressure tactic meant to bully him into taking their side. The morons can’t accept that their days as pampered, overindulged hacks with a monopoly over public opinion are over. Permanently.

Andanar was lucky he got out in time. The way technology is going, these pompous, mentally bankrupt yellow journalists will soon be jobless. Just ignore them. They caused the mass bobo-fication of the Filipino masses for the last 30 years. They’re the ones who should apologize.
