Current Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas is the Liberal Party’s official candidate for the 2016 Presidential Elections. That has always been the plan or promise made to Roxas by his party-mates so he would agree to step aside and postpone his own plans to run for the Presidency back in 2010 to give way to then Senator Benigno Simeon (BS) Aquino.
You can call it a twist of fate or bad luck but while the death of the country’s so-called “democracy icon” and former President Cory Aquino in 2009 catapulted the son BS Aquino to the most powerful position in the country, it was the beginning of the end for Roxas’s dreams to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and become the country’s next President.SUPPORT INDEPENDENT SOCIAL COMMENTARY! At that time, many saw Roxas’s move to give way to BS Aquino as a sign of weakness or lack of conviction. For if he truly had a vision and plan for the country, he would not have easily given up running just because his party-mates thought BS Aquino had more chances of winning. A man with conviction would have found it unacceptable that his party-mates had asked someone who was reluctant and someone without any platform to run for the Presidency.
Compromise is the word that comes to mind when I think of Mar Roxas. He doesn’t mind compromising his own principles for his own ambition. This was also evident in the way he handled the Mamasapano massacre of 44 government special action forces officers by members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. Despite being excluded by BS Aquino from Oplan Exodus – an operation that involved the arrest of foreign and local terrorists suspects by elite forces of the Philippine National Police who were under his jurisdiction, Roxas kept his real thoughts to himself and went along with the excuse that the clash was simply a “misencounter”.
Like I said before, for someone who was kept out of the loop of a major operation, Roxas acted strangely forgiving of BS Aquino and seemed to have moved on very quickly from the “oversight” even when a video of him being briefed by SAF head Director Getulio Napeñas for the first time about the tragedy obviously upset him. Some expected Roxas to resign from his DILG post as a statement of indignation but it was apparent that he didn’t want to speak ill of the President or do something that would “anger” BS Aquino for fear of losing what he thinks is a valuable endorsement from the incumbent in the next Presidential election. In other words, the Mamasapano tragedy also exposed Roxas’s desperation, which is quite pathetic to say the least.
A lot of people have been wondering why Roxas still wanted BS Aquino’s endorsement in the first place. An endorsement from BS Aquino, who has become some sort of a lame duck in the twilight of his term, won’t make a difference to his low popularity ratings in the Presidential polls. Besides, it’s not like the voters still believe in “Daang Matuwid” or Straight Path slogan. Some people think the path is leading the country exactly to where the previous administrators had gone before. This is evident in the way patronage politics in government is still holding the country backward. It’s not like BS Aquino can transfer what they claim is the “Cory magic” to any member of the Liberal Party, especially Roxas. It’s not transferrable and whatever magic they think they still possess, is gone. He may have been “anointed” as BS Aquino’s successor but Roxas is on his own in dealing with the people’s perception of him.
Here are some of the reasons why I think it would be hard for Roxas to fix his bad image to the voting public and therefore, hard to win the Presidency in 2016:
1. Mar Roxas doesn’t have the “it” factor.
In the Philippines, the “it” factor is whatever it is that appeals to the emotional crowd. To win the crowd, you need some kind of story the audience can cling on to. It’s either you are grieving, an orphan or a rags-to-riches story. In the case of BS Aquino for example, it was the death of his mother Cory Aquino that endeared him to the crowd.Roxas just doesn’t have that something that would appeal to emotion. He also tries too hard to get people to like him but ends up coming across as fake or not genuine in his attempt to “care” for them. His public relations stunts showing him doing what is supposed to be his staff’s job like directing traffic only proves he is not good at delegating and doesn’t trust his men to do the right thing.
2. Mar Roxas is not his own man.
As evident in the way he handled the Mamasapano tragedy, he is prepared to hide the truth even in the face of injustice just to avoid any conflict with whoever he thinks can help him achieve his goal – BS Aquino and his allies. Likewise, Roxas doesn’t mind being tossed around and left in the dark by his own party mates even after he “sacrificed” his own ambition to keep the Liberal Party in power.
3. Mar Roxas is hot headed and cannot handle stress well.
A few incidents have been recorded of Roxas getting frazzled and incoherent under stress. First, there was one where he reduced himself to arguing with CNN’s foreign correspondent Andrew Stevens during the height of super typhoon Yolanda about the number of uncollected body bags left on the road. Next was the video of Roxas berating Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez about the “requirements” the Mayor had to abide by before the central government can provide help to the devastated town. The footage provided enough proof that Roxas is not fit to be in a position of power. His penchant for insisting he is right even when he is wrong can spell disaster for the country.
Aside from those mentioned, Roxas was caught swearing at a rally against former President Gloria Arroyo back in 2008 – something conservatives think is behavior unbecoming of a Presidential candidate.
4. Mar Roxas is married to Korina Sanchez — a potential gaffe machine.
Who can forget the time Korina earned the ire of CNN’s Anderson Cooper during the height of super typhoon Yolanda? Cooper challenged Korina to go to Tacloban after she criticized the foreign correspondent for supposedly reporting inaccurately about the situation in Tacloban. It was not surprising that majority sided with Cooper since Korina was reporting the news from the studio while Cooper was reporting from ground zero – a more realistic vantage point. More importantly, Korina behaved unprofessionally when she used her position in the media to defend her husband DILG head Roxas against criticism from the international news organization that rescue operations were very slow. That was just one faux pas of many others and there are quite a number of them.Unfortunately, Korina comes across as someone who cannot put her own emotion under control and could prove a public relations liability for her husband over the course of his term if he becomes president.
Roxas’s supporters say he has “integrity”. Clearly, they are simply talking about the way he deals with his own allies. Sure, Roxas can be loyal to people who are on his side the way fraternity brothers are obliged to be loyal to each other no matter what. Unfortunately for others outside of his circle, Roxas can be as tough as the nail he used to fix that school chair in one of his PR stunts. To put it another way, Roxas can be nice to deal with if your name is Aquino but a bully if your name is Romualdez.
In life, things are not always what they seem.
I agree, IIda, If Yolanda was Roxas defining moment, Mamasapano confirmed the perceptions that he is a light weight wannabe. If he can’t organize a Photo-Op of himself, would we want him trying to control National Destiny?
Roxas doesn’t have any answers, ask good questions or stimulate meaningful dialogue among others.
That said, we must admit that Mar and Korina will leave a legacy of Very Good Hair. Their children are blessed.
Hi Go Rico.
Roxas has proven in two disasters that he is not capable of handling stressful situations well. Filipinos don’t need someone like him.
For me,there is only one reason why Mar is not a winnable candidate. It is, when Filipinos tend to forget who are the true and real corrupt personalities and leaders of our government….but focuses on the lips of so many and varied talks of our chissmosas and chissmososs…..trying to value “utang na loob”, societal standard etc……
Vote for Ping Lacson
Lacson is “sayang”. He shld be the next President.
oww. everyone already forget the Kuratong Baleleng case
sINO GUSTO MO bINAY KURAKOT?

Go,go,go Iria Anne
so who do you think filipinos need? it’s ok to publish that someone is not capable; but if you do not suggest a viable alternative, you are nothing but a worthless heckler.
Worthless? Lots of people appreciate being presented with alternative views normally not found in mainstream media.
I already stated what Filipinos need. They need a real leader and a statesman who can use his leadership and statesmanship skills in achieving his vision for the country. Now please use your critical analysis in looking for that person.
Geez. Are you that dense? I’m not saying your article is worthless. I’m saying that you are a worthless heckler.
You said Filipinos need “a real leader and a statesman who can use his leadership and statesmanship skills in achieving his vision for the country.” That’s just plain stupid. Hitler and Marcos Sr. could easily fit into that. Well, I take back what I said. Your article IS worthless. 😀
No, I’m not worthless and my article is not worthless.
It’s only worthless to people who cannot use their critical analysis. It’s not “plain stupid” to say “a real leader and a statesman who can use his leadership and statesmanship skills in achieving his vision for the country.”
You are correct in citing those two people as an example. They may not be yours or my ideal leaders but they had a vision and they managed to achieve their vision to a point.
@egat: Try to apply a bit of modern thinking for a change and ditch your primitivist medieval thinking for a moment.
Hitler and Marcos are technically successful leaders. Hitler succeeded at convincing the entire German nation as well as other ethnic/Germanic societies across Europe to subscribe to his vision of a Europe dominated by Germany and to follow him to war to execute that vision.
Marcos ruled for more than two decades both as a democratic president and then as an authoritarian ruler and managed to bring under his employment some of the most brilliant technocrats, bureaucrats, and military leaders to ensure the entire Philippine nation is kept in line with his world view.
Technically, both succeeded. Like those of all leaders good or bad both their regimes ended. But if you measure leadership on the basis of how much control and influence over a people you wielded, how many people were subject to your rule, how much geographical area you had placed under your direct control over a protracted period, and how deep a legacy you left (good or bad) in history, and you will find that VERY FEW fit the criteria of what it means to be a successful leader.
You take the quaint moralising you exhibit here out of the equation and see the picture with an objective eye (if you have the brain capacity to elevate your thinking to that level, that is) and you will know what I mean.
Sorry. I did not get your point. The matter in question here is the article about why Mar Roxas will not win the elections next year. I think it’s pointless. If you know he will not win, why write about it? To rub it in his face? It’s just plain heckling. It’s counter-productive.
By the way, you will hardly be called a good leader if you left a bad legacy. If you had a brain of an amoeba, you should have already known that.
Mar and his supporters think he is going to win so it’s not pointless to highlight that he is unlikely to win in the 2016 Presidential election. It is helpful to a lot of people including his PR machine.
It’s all a matter of opinion whether a leader left a good or bad legacy. 😉
Haha. Now it’s you who doesn’t make any sense.
Do you mean that if Roxas read this article, he will immediately abandon his run?
Eh di wow.
😀
When did I say that? Tsk tsk tsk…
*sighs*
Do I have to explain everything to you?
You don’t have to. You don’t have a point anyway. No one is forcing you to stay here and discuss the merits of my article.
LOL
Ok. No problem.
Bye! 😀
Bye!
Start getting real. It might do some good to your site.
😀
We’re doing just fine.
Thank you for stopping by. 🙂
Oh, you’re back so soon. Kinda strange for a guy who thinks this site is crap.
Egat, worthless heckler? You mean someone like you who posts rhetorical questions in an article he or she does not like? I think you’re commenting here saying “so who do you think Filipinos need?” is just to spite the author of the article without you contributing anything of value to the question either. A typical contrarian whiner.
Eh di wow nga. Get real din. Huwag kang plastic. Aminin mo lang hindi ka nagaagree sa article. Ang dami mo pang kaartehan.
Egat you pathetic, give it up. You were out classed and completely lost this argument.
brain of an amoeba? wait, they have brains? idiot spotted!
corect k jan ateng
You are so right… Even Pnoy always shrugs off the common people’s plight… The problem of choosing the right president in the Phil is like asking what kind of death do you like…. Guillotine, firing squad, water torture etc… I still believe there are sincere capable leaders but not winnable cuz you have to shelve out billions to win the post… That’s then reality of politics
Hi Ilda. I totally agree with you on every points in this article. This article deserves more attention. It was very objective except from the the BS pun thing. Anyway the focus here is Mar Roxas so I don’t see the need for the same.
yes.. this article is somewhat realistic. its useful in my opinion. @egay
This is true. Today his beef is with the mayor form Davao and people are seeing that he cannot handle the mudslinging even though allegedly he started it. Is he going to act up like that when he is already seated? Well we will be in a much deeper shit.
I dont wanna discredit him of his accomplishments but the top post is not for him. Maybe he’d do good in tourism i guess.
Mar would do great in the Department of Trade and Industry(DTI) sector. He has proven this when he was Secretary of the DTI during the time of Gloria Arroyo. I have worked with one of the major players in the BPO industry from 2004-2012 and have witnessed how Mar worked really hard with the prime movers of the said industry to come up with incentives, laws and initiatives to attract foreign investors. He realized the potential and shared the vision of the private sector in creating jobs, and turning the Filipinos into a world class workforce. I have witnessed the admirable partnership between government and private sector which turned the BPO as “the sunshine industry” of our country. ?Over the years, it has continuously created thousands of jobs. It’s exponential growth also created more jobs and business opportunities in other industries like construction, IT, Telco, Food, clothing, transportation etc.etc. Mar has worked with decency and integrity.
You are siding on corrupt politicians than real and dedicated public servants. Do you get benefits from these corrupts and plunderers?
And that includes Mar Roxas himself. I just want to tell you that incompetence is also corruption. Remember that.
What makes you think I am siding with anyone? I’m simply stating the obvious. Just in case you still don’t get the point: Leni Robredo is not fit to be in a high executive position in government because she is someone who tends to compromise her principles just to please her party-mates.
Why nobody want to be VP of Mr palengke. During the ABS CBN coverage, look like they surely for a win beacuse of no known opposition. IF LP win also win for NP (bahay baboy).Korina can be his running VP ,anyway the election is only formality, the winner was already created by the comelec. FOI will never be voted in bahay baboy..
Who knows, maybe they might even think of pulling a “Cory Aquino stunt” on this one (either by diagnosing the wife with some terminal less-than-one-year-left-to-live disease or put the husband in physical peril at a certain airport).
Well, he did visit the graves of his forefathers prior to PNoy’s endorsement.
I LOVE the last sentence of the post…Alfred R. confirmed such.
Whew.
Thanks!
That’s another set of good points worth thinking over as always, Ilda. (I mean for me as a voter.) Thank you.
Glad to be of help. Thanks.
This time Mar Roxas will be having a hard time convincing people to vote him because we already saw how incompetent he was in handling difficult situations not just once but more than what we know. And as per MST leakage information, it seems that INC will not support him instead it will goes to Poe if Bong Bong Marcos will not run for Presidency. If that’s true, I’ll be happy to see BS PNoy in jail 🙂 including Abad, Alcala, Soliman and the rest of the KKK Gang….
He already had a hard time convincing voters to vote for him as Vice President in 2010. I don’t know why he thinks he can convince them to vote for him for a higher position.
Haha . very well said mam Ilda , I totally agree in you. Keep it up mam. Sana maimedia naman yung mga ganito I never heard and watch negative things about Sec.Mar Roxas eh .. Napaka plastik nya promise , and the reason why they don’t what to focus on fallen 44 case dahil ma hi highlight yung katangahan nya .. Lalo tuloy kokonti supporters nya, but I’m pretty sure his PR man will do another blog to highlight Sec. Mar
Sana nag resign nalang cya as DILG Sec , right after that Mamasapano Incident , naka bawe manlang cya sa mga kapalpakan na ginawa niya . Mahirap talaga mga spoil rich brat tulad ng boss niyang si pinoy , madali uminit ang ulo hinde sanay sa mahirap , pag na corner na ang sagot Bahala Kayo sa Buhay Niyo ako anak ng milyonaryo
I don’t have time reading all the Bullsh** comments from critics. Thanks for this great article, Ms. Ilda. I am posting this on my FB page.
If there’s one good thing about all of this ROXAS for president ANTICS…I guess it’s the fact that amongst all of the administration’s possible candidate he is unarguably the WEAKEST for so many obvious reasons. NOW I consider it a VICTORY and a BLESSING that this crappy secretary managed to convinced his PARTY to assume for office because he would surely Loose in the 2015 presidential election…. They are trying to convince themselves that the tremendous money they have looted over the past 5 years would be enough to win the people..but mind you..the tide has indeed changed..underestimating the voting public would sure cause them defeat…. TACLOBAN CITY COULD ATTEST TO THAT!!!!
Yeah, good thing he had an opportunity to showcase his incompetence and arrogance while he was in DILG.
Oh boy the #1 retarded spiel of a failipino strikes again. Like being a president or any leader is the solution for this country’s progress you spoon-fed whiny little kid. Napakalaki ng incompetence na ginawa ng bobong pwesidente mo bobong noytard. Iyan lang ba ang kaya mong ibato kay Ilda bobong pinoy?
ilda@
Why leah Navarro keep defending these incompetent person (roxas and Pnoy). What happen to the Black and White movement
Chris says:–That is true ,most people are looking for a candidate that will prosecute Abnoy on his crime..I don’t know if Binay will or not, I dont know if Binay become irritated when pnoy trow some negative about him or this only part of the show to make Binay a treat to Jackass pnoy’, future after 2016
If DUTERTE can really clean Corruptions as he said he would if elected I think he is the man to be in the highest post in the Govt. he was able to do it in his City of Davao which is now the most livable city in the entire country and one of the most livable city in the world. Foreign Investments are flowing in that city. Maybe he can do it too in the whole country. This is just my (unintellectual) thoughts.
I don’t think so. He cleaned criminals but not corrupt politicians. If he can do that, pinabaril na nya sana si Nograles.
Raim, you can’t really clean corruption through killing or pointing guns at everyone you see, that would just force the corrupt to retaliate even more.
The real weapon, Duterte can use is his FIERCE REPUTATION which we may closely attribute to being UTILITARIAN in nature.
I believe #DUTERTE2016 can clean up the government when he will be on THE seat of PH power. But he will not use “force” as he does’nt need to anymore. He will have the authority to check them out, manage from them from the TOP, he will use his political will.
Btw, Duterte knows what he’s doing. He does’nt step on anybody’s toes when he was Mayor of Davao(hindi kasi sya nag-papapogi lang); remember the RICE SMUGGLING issue? he knows that it is happening, as witnessed in the senate hearing with Davison Tan, but he did not act on it (do raids etc.) since he knows it is not his jurisdiction (it was under customs jurisdiction – a national agency). However when he is president ibang usapan na yan, it will be under him and we will then see.
Better to have a Noynoy-like prez who did not steal from Pinoys and started to bring up the nation rather than electing politicos with outstanding records of embezzelment and parading like a meek sheep with a wolf-attitude.
@Jun
What makes you think PNoy did not steal? He uses taxpayers’ money as if it was his own by giving them away to his allies in congress through pork barrel. His incompetence has also resulted in a lot of wasted resources and time we can never get back. The poverty and crime rate in the country is still up. Not much has changed since PNoy took over the Presidency.
Bakit ate what makes u think he did?if u can prove any of that ill vote hu ever u want me to vote…as a matter of fact marami na bili ang aquino government compared to the last admin…ako kase i don’t expect the president to solve everything.. Ate heckler ka lang kase talaga…heater ka ni pinoy… Want i notice sa article mo why u wrote the word (bs aquino) when to r repairing to the president,we all know that when u cant say or write the word bullshit u use bs instead.its clear that u r a heater of the president.
“…,we all know that when u cant say or write the word bullshit …”
The last time I checked his name is Benigno Simeon (BS for short). Now, why would you insinuate that Ms. Ilda is using his name initials to mean “bullshit” unless you think that’s what the president is. That is your conclusion, not Ilda’s. Plus it’s not uncommon to use initials for the sake of brevity. U.S. media. for example, have used JFK for John Fitzgerald Kennedy; FDR for Franklin Delano Roosevelt; in the Philippines, FM for Ferdinand Marcos, etc. Don’t be too sensitive…maybe BS Aquino needs a name change.
Heater? Can I buy those? I need a heater in my shower. 😀
BS Aquino stands for BENIGNO SIMEON po, which is the president’s real name. BS is often used so it won’t confuse people with his father, Benigno Aquino Sr. Everyone, including the media refer to him as BS Aquino. But in my humble opinion, BULLSHIT is more apt for him to! Hahaha!
By the way, for your improvement po 😉
HEATER = HATER
REPAIRING = REFERRING
Basa po dictionary pag may time 😀
That’s right, we don’t need HEATERS here because it’s already too hot…
COOLERS ang kailangan!
Wow we are heaters? Are you implying that we are arsonists? Bawas-bawasan mo ang kaka-text mo kasi nagmumukha kang bobo’t walang pinag-aralan sa pinagsusulat mong iyan.
Yel says:–Kung walang corrupt si pnoy, nasaan yung savings at bekat walang audit..Your guest is good as mine….All of his SONA accomplishment only coming from his mouth but no hard copy.
Heater? I don’t know what you are repairing to when you said heater.
ha ha ha, ibig niyang sabihin malamig ka raw kaya dapat heater ka, he he
How does one become a “heater” of the President? 😀
benignO, It’s pretty simple, actually. Just add inject and “e” into hater. It’s a popular game among 8 year olds.
You make the president feel the heat daw. Or, pinapainit ul ni PNoy kasi kabuwisitan daw mga kritiko sa kanya. 😛
When its cold….ha ha ha
Uh, you keep the president warm?
I agree.. DAP is unconstitutional(http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2015/02/03/1419749/supreme-court-affirms-dap-unconstitutionality). His leadership showed too many failures specifically during the last half of his term, Yolanda relief in chaos, MRT maintenance still a disaster, Mamasapano massacre still has no justice.
Well, there seems to be an English 101 lesson up there.
PNoy may not be perfect but compared with our past presidents, he did more in terms of curbing corruption, raising the country’s economic standing in the international community, overhauling procurement processes to minimize, if not prevent the so-called SOPs, etc. The benefits of these changes will not be instantly felt but these are positives that his predecessors failed to implement because they themselves initiated, tolerated or participated in the plundering of the economy. So PNoy stole as you allege? Does he also have secret bank accounts in Switzerland or in the Bahamas like Marcos, GMA or Binay where he stashed away the money he plundered? Was the country’s credit rating upgrade the result of his incompetence? You may be so contemptuous of PNoy but to picture him as the most inept & incompetent president we’ve had is as malicious as the way you refer to him sarcastically…BS Aquino using his second name when by tradition we abbreviate our first & middle names, not the second name.
Excerpts from my previous article: Noynoy Aquino is the worst president the Philippines ever had
BS Aquino’s supporters often cite the economic growth rate and a few credit rating upgrades the country has achieved during his term. Both however, do not result in improvement in the lives of the majority. They are also not sustainable because the industries that fuel the growth rate are in the retail and real estate industry. And no matter how much they deny it, the economy still relies heavily on remittances from overseas contract workers. The credit upgrades will only translate to something significant when the borrowed funds are used to upgrade facilities and infrastructure that would then invite more local and foreign investments. At the rate BS Aquino’s government is “saving” funds, this will not happen in the remaining months of his term.
Instead of institutionalizing good governance, BS Aquino institutionalized patronage politics. As a consequence, instead of uniting the Filipino people, he divided their sentiments. Because he perverted the terms “honest” and “integrity”, Filipinos no longer know their true meanings. Compassion has turned to vindictiveness and cynicism. Instead of promoting loyalty to country, BS Aquino promoted loyalty to him and his party. Filipinos are now confused over who to trust. Mainstream media does not help in fostering unity and kindness with their biased and negative reporting. They only give airtime to possible candidates who are deemed “popular”.
Fidel Ramos raised the country’s economic standing in the international community better than BS.
GMA raised the country’s economic growth rate through her ‘economics’ focused goal for the country.
I ain’t saying the above mentioned names are ideal; but just want to point out that BS raised minimal if not zero, on economics and procurements.
The end is near for Mar’s political ambition.
Arroyo to Aquino: It’s the economy, student!
Numerous People did not distinguish that Former President Arroyo penned an Essay in footings of her contributions as our President Published 9:18 AM, January 13, 2012. Its COMPARISON and CONTRAST. Let us reminisce that in Pnoy’s SONA, well essentially almost all his SONA he never miscarried to blame the aforementioned administration, and subsequently after publishing this essay the Palace did not reply. Why? Because it’s an ELEMENT of FACT!
Below are the HIGHPOINTS of her essay.
Please declaim it patiently, and stop TROLLING!
-The economy I turned over
-The politics of division
-Our dream of growth
-Infrastructure
-Land productivity

sa opinion sino ba ang nararapat maging presidente
Shut Up you know nothing about politics. Hindi nagnakaw si Pnoy and mga nagnakaw is yung mga hindi niya kaalyadong senators and congressman. Before you speak about Politics Please read the Phil constitution.
Oh no noytard YOU shut the F up! Your retarded pwesident doesn’t give a damn on his so-called “enemies” in order to make himself look like the protagonist with his so-called “anti-corruption”. Hindi nagnakaw? Then tell me why he has a trillion peso pork barrel from his pdaf then you noybita asslicker? Sino ngayon ang may walang alam sa pulitika na bobong pinoy?
Also, where the hell is the billions of yolanda funds from foreign nations that they gave to your retarded pwesident? The Philippine Red Cross already finished 86% of their projected homes for those victims and yet your retarded pwesident haven’t made one of them from those funds….hep hep hep you shut the F up about saying those houses of dswd which are very low standard that they got destroyed immediately!
Then what do you call his 1 trillion peso pork barrel then stupid noytard? Oh and you’re obviously implying that you and your kin have a stupid gene. I bet you always hit your head stupidly because you are not cautious and you hate thinking.
That’s….. utterly retarded.
Did he not steal? But his friends and minions do all the stealing for him. Or maybe you’re just TROLLING….

A modern way of stealing taxpayer, everybody in the government get the pair share (parteng tulisan) of loot so everybody is happy and nobody got impeached..and the good thing, congress will defend abnoy what ever unlawful act he made. Not like the past admin that only husband and wife enjoy the loot..I swear to god that this Abnoy techiqus will become a common way of corruption in the future to come as long we have this presidential form of government. Congress need not to approved project from president. let the tongressman and senatong do the project suppose the duty the president..No project, the money was also gone..In this case disband the useless COA

Wake up man today is 2015 U just wake up after 5 years of hibernation
This is a copy and paste propaganda during 2010 presidential election for Abnoy Jackass
JUN @
Don’t you worry ,after pnoy term everything will come out. U said that because he didn’t make any project on his own.He distribute the money and KKK makes the loot. How trully he has no kickback commission from that. Base on Nognog, he only get the demolition after his announcement in 2016 candidacy.
are you sure..you know well to duterte?before you predic the character of othr human being..be sure first you see in yourself infront of a mirror in your home and asking yourself..ouy perfect and saint ..if u die you go firectly in heaven
Get real Philippines! If you want a turn around change and betterment, you need to decide between integrity and popularity. Good governance against dole-outs/patronage politics which do not meaningfully erase poverty, especially among the “salaula” for so many decades now. Being popular is no guarantee that the rule of law prevails, that has been proven again and again in our political history as popular power turns abusive and corrupts.
@Maria
You need to read the article again because I already defined what “integrity” means to people like PNoy and Mar Roxas. It means loyalty to their allies and vindictive to his perceived enemies.
Great reply.
Am a fan from now on.
Thanks, Dante!
u read this?

All of your articles clearly are a demolition of Mar Roxas. What motivates you to write article redundantly attacking Mar Roxas. Is it for money? Or, is it to get even, to either Corina or Mar? Jilted, are you? Just asking.
Other 4 reasons why Mar Roxas will NOT win on 2016 presidential elections:
1. Binay
2. Duterte
3. He is a Pnoy puppet
4. Even though he will get Grace Poe as his running mate on 2016 election, Chiz Escudero will surely make another huge mess against him just like on 2010 election.
So true.
Correction, he’s not PNOY Puppet, Coz, Pnoy is a puppet himself. Maybe Abad, abaya, INC puppet, or LP puppet. Mar is PNOY ver. 2.0. a puppet.
mrericx s@
base on his timeline in politics,he is a professional TRAPO. No accomplishment. Only the ABiaS CBN promotion keep him on the limelight.
“Roxas’s move to give way to BS Aquino as a sign of weakness or lack of conviction. For if he truly had a vision and plan for the country, he would not have easily given up running just because his party-mates thought BS Aquino had more chances of winning. A man with conviction would have found it unacceptable that his party-mates had asked someone who was reluctant and someone without any platform to run for the Presidency.” – One of a good point in this article, as one of millions of voters who witnessed how the government works for their people, it is really important to choose the candidate that is not biased.
Thanks, Rowena.
While reading the above comments and article, it hit me that mar roxas is a good politician, also the other canditates… Politician in the sense that they know how to play the game and that’s what they’re doing, which manny filipino will buy. Hope not.. But what we need now is a Good leader, that i think again is a shady word for most, “good”, specially during elections… Its hard to explain to people your take about a certain canditate, and in the end, for me, it’s futile…
Very good article by the way.
Hi, Rowena, you made very good points. If ROXAS can be persuaded to stand aside, then he can be persuaded to do anything. That isn’t leadership.
If, however, he believed the Part mates that they would support him 6 years later, then he’s also guilty of stupidity FOR TRUSTING the words of POLITICIANS
Rowena–They still relied on Media propaganda machine to win and they got the peoples tax money to spend. So don’t vote to LP NP endorsement .Only UNA is the opposition, LP and NP got the same mentors or dictator like in communist country
Between Binay and Roxas, I would definitely go for Roxas. True he doesn’t have masa appeal, true he doesn’t handle pressure well, true his wife hasn’t much to offer but I prefer that to a liar ,corrupt, manipulative politician.
Why are you limiting your choices between Binay and Roxas then? Do not believe what the media is telling you that there are only two choices. There are other people more deserving than Binay and Roxas.
Who r d other choices aside from roxas, binay and poe? Who will you vote? Pls be specific. Thanks.
The presidential entry isn’t a required entry, right? I’ll leave it blank. At least, I exercised my right to vote – to vote for none of the them.
namae names plsssss…
anthony @
How about Lito Lapid or Tito Sotto. We don’t need a lawyer in the government because they can twist and find the loopholes in butas sa batas. All we need are an entertainer like FPJ now Grace Poe.
Sino pa? Let’s have their names
@ Ira Langit, In my opinion, Philippines has only one true Champion of the People, Sen Santiago.
No Administration, past, present or future will ever consider the peoples needs, only the Profits and Plunder they can deliver to their families.
Santiago has courage, integrity and intelligence, but Filipinos are too chicken-shit to stand with her against Political Dynasties.
What names do you offer?
Hmm… Let me say a few names in my mind.
From the mainstream:
1) Former CJ Davide
2) FVR
3) Sen. Santiago
4) Ombudsman Carpio-Morales
5) Richard Gordon
6) Gilbert Teodoro, Jr.
Alternatives:
1) Dante Jimenez (of VACC)
2) Brgy Captain Martin Dino (remember Echegaray’s daughter/rape victim?)
3) Perfecto Yasay, Jr. (former SEC chief)
4) Gilbert Teodoro (though I think he belongs to the first set)
5) John Carlos delos Reyes (2010 presidential candidate)
6) Nicanor Perlas (2010 presidential candidate)
What do you think of the names I mentioned?
How many millions (or billions) are we Filipinos per last survey? Why should I limit my choices to 1 or 10 names?
Given the political parties’ funny way of nominating candidates I very much would like to see a ballot with 20 or more names for president and vice-president, most of which are independent candidates with zero political affiliations.
oops, I mentioned Gilbert Teodoro twice. My mistake.
Give the choice to the independent. They have no parties, the are one for all the country and people. They are the one that cry for change. Wait for the result who are the independent candidcates, go n listen n see 4yourself what they can do in their promises before u decide your vote. All parties are for themselves their pocket to be fill full?
That’s the problem with stupid failipinos like you: you never think critically because you always use you heart instead of your head. Bawas-bawasan mo ang kapapanood mo ng mga telebasura day.
Well, why not leave presidential entry blank? By my conscience, I cannot vote someone I do not trust to be in that position.
Annie Del Rosario–What is the difference between the two. they are both puppet on the string of your boss jackass in the palace. Pnoy has no opposition to worry about, they are all in jail
Please don’t pretend to be a choice of the masses
U also part of Roxas propaganda. So don’t be afraid, your boss will not go to jail after 2016
Annie Del Rosario–History always repeat by itself. Gibo endorsed by GMA and lost. The only different between Abnoy ang pandak is Abnoy has ABS CBN propaganda station that brainwash u and the masses. What happend to daang matuwid FOI, asked Mr Palengke. Sinungaling–hanggang ngayon ay di pa nagpapasagasa ang amo niya sa tren sa palacio..
The fact that PNoy endorses him should be a big contributor on why he won’t win. PNoy told him to continue Daang Matuwid and Mar goes “Ako si Mar Roxas, tinatanggap ko ang hamon ng ating mga boss na ituloy at palawakin ang laban ng daang matuwid.” No need to waste time looking for his platforms. That’s it. Ugh, I can’t wait for a big live presidential debate.
Well, I do hope they all attend the debate. In 2009, Noynoy refused to go.
Nancy Binay did not attend the debate, too. And both of them won! This debate should be compulsory then.
Ilda says:–Refused to go and win . thanks to ABS CBN effort
It seems Mar left his post with a big job left unfinished (#2). I wonder if the replacement PNoy-appointed-partymates-recommended-DILG Sec will bother to look into it.
Yes, unfortunately they might end up neglected.
Sick_Amore- What’s the used of being DILG. They are there for power..As long the congress was fully paid to served Pnoy. Case close
He is the lesser of three evils. All of them ambitious, one is a liar and thief, the other has no inkling of how it is to govern a nation and this one, maybe he doesn’t have the IT factor and has had a few failures along the way but compared to the first two, he has the cleanest record and the performance to back it up.
What clean record? Didn’t you read the article?
For starters, his office doesnt supply cakes bought from a family/relative business. That’s a start.
There was definitely corruption when he was DOTC secretary, he cancelled the contract with Sumitomo (who maintained the MRT excellently) and recommended to his successor Abaya the fly-by-night Global APT, owned by some LP stalwarts. Abaya signed the awarding of the maintenance of MRT3 just 3 days after he assumed office. Obviously acting on the orders of Roxas, who got a big fat commission from it.
Your reply, sorbet is great. Right on!
Clean of what exactly? Hirap kasi sa mga inutil na katulad mo masyadong isip bata pa rin kaya ang gusto mong leader ay yung “mabait” kamo kasi wala kang disiplina at gusto mo pa rin na binebeybi ka.
Clean records? Oh, you mean no records
No records of competence
No records of sympathy(“Bahala na kayo sa buhay ninyo!”)
No records of anything resembling competence
Only thing we got from roxas is
Incompetence(MRT,Mamasapano and Yolanda)
So tell me noytards, do you really want someone like roxas who is guaranteed to turn this country into a hell hole?
Oh I get it, you noytards want roxas to be president so that your idol, aquino stays out of jail.
Sorry to say, We’ve got you noytards figured out
Troll Harder
And even if roxas will be president so that noybita will stay out of jail, there is this case filed by Amal Clooney to the UN about that bald’s incompetence.
domo says:Is there any other candidate for 2016 presidential election..All of this shits are Abnoy puppets,NP bongbong as well
I will go for Bong Bong he is better than Binay and Roxas at least BBM has done something good already like for the OFW the BBL for Typhoon Yolanda Victims compared to those persons like Binay and Roxas he has no Bad records so far if he is a Marcos it’s not his fault i don’t think so that he is not capable to do a better job compared to Roxas and Crocodile Binay
Yes, independent one. no party on their own.
Choosing between Mar and Binay is like choosing between a pilot who is a terrorist and a pilot who is incompitent . It does not matter which one you choose they will both crash the airplane.
I can hear the Philippines’ engine breaking down in the background already…
Hope you brought a parachute…

Nah, you’re just spreading irrational thinking around here.
So only people who will choose binay over roxas are rational, that is your take?
you assume you’re limited with these candidates, which isn’t really the case. leave your ballot blank and be gone 🙂

Maraming salamat Ilda sa iyong panayam… May nais lang akong idagdag sa ika-apat mong dahilan – Bago pa sa Yolanda at noon-noon pa, plastikadang hambog si Korina Sanchez. Roxas integrity is in his Ass. Mar Roxas will do anything, even , making a fool of himself; to promote his political agendas. He does not care, if people suffer, or if people are hungry and dying. His political agendas are first and foremost.
He is a proven Liar; and is proven to Cover Up for the incompetence of his Boss Aquino, and his own incompetence.
To look up for a good leader. You have to see how they perform under Stress. His decisions; his behaviors; and the results of his decisions and behaviors.
If what you find is: directing traffic, and carrying bags of onions. Then, STUPIDITY is in the marrow of his bones.
His wife Korina Sanchez, is his alter ego. She is as Stupid, as Mar Roxas…

I am from Tacloban City. I know what happened last November 2013. I will not vote for Roxas.
The way things are going, I will not vote for Binay.
My vote will go to either the third, fourth, or nth person who will run for presidency. C’mon guys. This is too early to say that 2016 election is a two-way fight between Binay & Roxas. Meron at meron dyan tatakbo na me klarong plataporma, me prinsipyo, & walang “dungis” sa kanyang pangalan. As of now, I’ll just wait-and-see. Masarap (minsan nakakasuya nga lang) silang panuorin.

Hi, my favourite Net Queen. Well, I try to while away time sometimes, but as you can see it is Grade One. I thought of passing it to you because you guys are active in Twitter. I no longer have FB and Twitter because it is addicting. Also, you know, you wonder why PHL is sinking when you have everyone in FB looking great. How can that be when every Pinoy looks great until somebody told me that in FB, you tell white lies to friends, and on Twitter, you tell the truth to people you don’t know. Hehehe
Frankly, reason is more than that. Lost a bundle meeting in FB a Lebanese who is based Los Angeles who turned out to be part of very sophisticated international syndicate. To make long story short, I closed every account after that and made a policy to no longer meet anyone from the net in person. Anyway, erase this; I really don’t want to talk about it.
Whatever, I was just amazed at byline: Roxas Na, which was pasted all over Club Filipino. There seems to be a very deep play going on within the Liberal Party, and I have been thinking, thinking about it. No, ad guy will miss that, and the Palace has with them the best of the best, like MonJ is there leading the pack. (And you know if there still an industry where PHL is #1 in Asia, that would be advertising) Somebody within party is intending to make Roxas lose. You see Roxas Na could immediately play into Roxas Nah. And, I ask why would they do that?
And here is my hypothesis: PNoy, Mar, and the Aquino sisters already know Mar will lose. If Mar wins, he will have a hard time preventing PNoy from going to jail, anyway, since he being an LP will invite more public opprobrium if he meddles with the flow of justice. Binay has always been part of the family, but now they allowed him to be opposition and say every bad thing about Daan Tuwid. So, if he wins, there will be less suspicion he would be meddling with Justice in preventing PNoy going to jail.
Poe is the outsider. It’s funny and strange that this is the first time political horse trading is known publicly. This was only about making sure PNoy is covered, whether she runs or not. If she runs, baka maka lusot, and she wins. So, it was really about protection of PNoy. She was not invited to run as LP, and in fact, if she wins as an independent, the lost of Mar will look more credible.
When Blue Ribbon could not take down Binay in the surveys, they finally decided he was the only one who could protect PNoy. This is all zarzuela we are seeing, I think Binay will be the one they will make sure who wins. See, they sometimes say appear in the Senate, but they don’t really push it except for Trillanes, who of course, is so stupid not to see a deeper play.
Do I make sense? I hope I am wrong for talagang kawawa PHL. But, how can you explain Roxas Na. Guys can immediately play it into Roxas Nah, how could the best of ad guys miss this if it weren’t intentional? I hope a strong 4th candidate, or even 5th one, shows up to disrupt all their Plan A and Plan B.
Roxas… WAH!!!
Hahaha. Exactly, Hyden
or Ahas Na!
@Add
Your scenario is not too farfetched. Since no one ends up in jail, seems they are just fooling the public with the show of trying to prosecute the “corrupt”. The truth is, most of them are corrupt. They could be in cahoots.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience with social networking site Facebook. It’s a good idea to apply a bit of scepticism especially when you are dealing with people online.

no one, start fresh….they are all greedy, selfish, and corrupt!!! first thing to do….BAWAL BILIHAN NG BOTO.
I may have inadvertently skipped a lot of people, not just one due my busy schedule.
In answer to the question: I try not to endorse candidates. Besides, no one has filed their candidacy yet. The media is just conditioning people to think the voters have only two or three options when in fact there are a lot of potential candidates out there. Try to avoid being gullible to media propaganda.
Hi, IIda, A great reply to Batang. In your position, your endorsements and/or criticism could be seen as Trolling, and premature endorsements are a waste of your time.
I am curious, too, so let me rephrase Batang’s question.
What type of candidate would you prefer? A technocrat, a former but proven bureaucrat, or an Academician?
If we can’t locate and cultivate a candidate from outside politics, I would support Santiago / Duterte for their relentless pursuit of results and the high anxiety they cause among politicians. Your thoughts?
Go RICO
I prefer a leader and a statesman who can use his leadership and statesmanship skills in achieving his vision for the country. He/she can either be a technocrat, bureaucrat or an academician.
Santiago and Duterte are not “outside” but are in politics.

A few days ago I would’ve completely agreed with your opinions on Mar. However, your observations on him may also be interpreted in the opposite way.
1. He may not have the “it” factor, and in our impressionistic society that could be a weakness for him. But just because he can’t please the crowd, even if he’s trying to, doesn’t make him less qualified as a candidate.
2. Giving way to someone is not a sign of weakness, it could also be seen as patience on his part to wait for his turn. In some sense, the Mamasapano case may also him as a team player. He could’ve easily left the administration to look good in the middle of the controversy but he chose to stay and carry the burden with them.
3. This seems to contradict your 2nd point. How can someone who is not his own man be insistent on his own points? He may have lost his cool but that should be taken within a certain context. I don’t exactly think Romualdez handled the case in Tacloban very well.
4. I honestly don’t like Korina and her kind of journalism, but she’s doing what any wife should do making a stand for her man.
@Alvie
So a few days ago you would have agreed with me because PNoy hasn’t endorsed Roxas then, is that right? LOL
1. Read my article again especially item number one. I didn’t say Mar not having the “it” factor makes him “unqualified” for the Presidency.
2. Giving way to someone like Noynoy who didn’t want to run and who didn’t have a plan for the country is a sign of WEAKNESS. It means he couldn’t run as an independent. It was proof that he is a pushover.
You have lost your moral high ground. You are okay with Roxas hiding the truth about Mamasapano instead of putting pressure on him to seek and tell the public the truth about PNoy’s role in the tragedy. Roxas prioritised his own interests instead of the country’s interests.
3. There is nothing inconsistent about it. A bully is someone who is insecure deep inside. He bullies people who he thinks are weaker than him in order to mask his own insecurities. Roxas was certainly trying to bully Romualdez when he thought the mayor was in a weak position after the super typhoon. Whatever you think about Romualdez is beside the point. It does not justify Roxas’s appalling behaviour at that time.
4. Another lame excuse for appalling behaviour. Korina was unprofessional when she used her position to defend her husband against criticism. Do not infect us with your low standards of professionalism.
As to your second point reply to Alvie, Mar not running as an independent in 2010 is not a sign of weakness. That is such a narrow-minded conclusion for you to say. He probably didn’t want to run independent because it would mean turning his back to the very values that he has nurtured and believed in as a Liberal Party member.
One more thing,if you don’t want to answer who you are going to vote for between Roxas and Binay, and if you really think Filipinos are not limited to only two presidential choices, who among the politicians then do you think are planning to run and are eligible to do so based on your own criteria? Surely, you can share your list and thoughts on each of them too?
Sorry, Pinky Lee. But I try not to endorse any candidates. Just look at the criteria I have enumerated and see who fits the mould.
It was a sign of weakness because Roxas could not break free from the clutches of people who did not think twice about dropping him for someone more popular.
What “values” are you talking about? That’s nonsense.
Hmm, you must have misunderstood my replies. I didn’t exactly say I disagree with you. I was simply suggesting alternative ways to interpret your observations.
In case you were thinking I changed my mind on Mar just because of PNoy’s endorsement, not really. I haven’t even decided if I like Mar or not. Right now, Im just trying to look at different sides of the issue before concluding. Your post was informative but I prefer to weigh out matters instead of just suddenly agreeing with any information I see posted on the web.
You coming up with “alternative ways to interpret” my observation is enough proof that you disagreed with my views at that time your wrote it. Plus your original statement was a giveaway: “A few days ago I would’ve completely agreed with your opinions on Mar“.
What happened between a few days ago and now anyway?
A few days ago, I happened to read this article:
http://opinion.inquirer.net/87239/the-weight-of-a-presidential-endorsement
Before this I didnt even care about Mar. Mr. Randy David is a very credible source, I believe. But i chose to look for alternative thoughts and i happened to see your post. I was hoping to have a fruitful dialogue, however, you simply bashed my replies. Thanks anyway, it is still a dialogue for me. I just hope you wouldn’t completely close your mind to other ideas. God bless, Ms. Ilda. 🙂
@Alvie
The article from Randy David does not explain why you cannot “completely” agree with my views on Mar. But that is ok. I am not forcing you to agree with it.
Saying Randy David is a “very credible source” doesn’t reduce the validity of my article. It just shows that you are a credentialist. You put more weight on views by someone who you think is more important than people you don’t know. It also proves that you tend to dismiss other people’s ideas who you think are not “credible” enough for you.
BTW, I did not “bash” your replies. I merely responded to them.
@Alvie
In the Failippines, there is no one who can claim nor say that they are “a very credible source”.
There is no Failipino expert on any subject; I mean, there is no wise old Failipino. There’s – shit, there’s just us.

..never voted for mar and never will. his mr.palengke stunt disgusts me until now and got worst when k.sanchez lambasted a.cooper. when i saw the clip on CNN- that one solid moment made me less proud to be a Pinoy. m.roxas has projected an image of a weakling ever since.. parating asa safe ground.. no balls to be “unpredictable”.. kung baga sa isang empleyadong namamasukan.. yes sir lang ng yes sir.. kapag may project na pumalpak, tamilmil lang sa kanyang upuan.. let us not limit ourselves with 2 choices.. there’s this “inexperienced US citizen” candidate (so they say).. there’s this senator who capitalized and still capitalizes on binay’s anomalies (kaya pala sya maingay- may panggagamitan pala sya ng ingay nya).. there’s also this fickle minded mayor from mindanao.. presidential candidates will mushroom pa as the filing nears.. sana matuto na ang bawat isa sa atin na bumoto gamit ang isip.. if not, then everything’s a never ending cycle na lang – a cycle of UNRESOLVED graft and corruption and anomalies..pinapayaman lang natin ang mga pulitiko habang karamihan sa atin ay walang tirahan at walang makain at hindi nahahatiran ng disenteng serbisyo galing sa gobyerno.. tandang tanda ko pa..sabi ni kris, wala ng Pilipinong magugutom kapag presidente na ang kapatid nya.. kung pwede nga lang habulin yun.. you made clear and spot on points, ms ilda.. i just hope that people will remember all these.
Well said, SweetFraulein. Glad you are not blinded by the yellow propaganda.
Thanks!
Ilda so u are bashing a certain candidate but wont favor or name any candidate bec they have not yet filed their candidacy. But It seems u are in favor then to the closest rival of Mar who wud benefit most from ur tirades.
@lennon
What do you mean “bashing”? I’m not bashing. I’m simply stating facts. 😉
Who is Mar’s “closest” rival?
Says the moron who just call Ilda a basher because his brain is a peanut which is why he can’t think critically.
lennon –Any candidate as long he against the tyrant mafia in the palace and no affiliation on LP and NP..
Dear Mr. Roxas (or any representative of LP here),
May I respectfully offer my advice. If you really want to lead this country by example, I suggest that you take the lead in humbly apologizing to the public for the mistakes of the current administration which you are very much a part of.
It takes so much grace to simply say “sorry”. It was a good start today that you apologized for your suplado image. Just keep apologizing for every goof-up of this government (Chinese hostages, Yolanda relief, Mamasapano, your loud PI remark in your speech, Korina’s defense of incompetence). Even if you were not directly accountable; as a member of the team, you can speak up in behalf of people who have a Pride problem.
Your sincerity is very much at the bottom of the image problem you are having. If you really are sorry; then “action will define your character”. I also suggest you internalize the Zaxxun Creed; especially the lines “integrity is supreme” and “my genuine concern: the common good”.
You can still fix your image problem, as well as all the points hurled against you in the above article (they are not beyond repair). And who knows, you may not even need Grace Poe to run for VP with you if she doesn’t want to. A higher grace can be on your side – the grace to be humble. “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” And if Binay smacks you on the right check – offer him your left. We aren’t a called a Christian nation for nothing.
Truly yours, Zaxx – a concerned citizen.
No chance of Roxas apologising, I’m afraid.
Hi Iida, thought-provoking article – as always.
Please don’t underestimate the clout GRP has on PH politics. You guys have a very good platform for influencing the top leaders of the land here. If politicians are in indeed amongst us, chances are one of them will pick up my letter and put it on Mar’s Desk tomorrow morning.
Besides, what’s Mar gotta lose by saying “sorry”? he’s already lost his winnability by taking on the mantle of a sinking presidency, compounded by the outshining rays of Grace the newbie. Might as well be remembered with the Legacy of being the most humble presidential candidate to ever grace PH history.
I agree with Zaxx. Com’n you all. If not Mar, then who?? Care to share?
If you have something to say for one person, share some thoughts for the others too. That’s what neutrality is. Not like what you’re doing dupe.
“If not Mar, then who?”
Oh my…are you guys incapable of thinking for yourselves? As if you will trust my opinion on who the best candidate is once I name one. You’ll simply accuse me of being “bayaran” again.
LOL…try harder. I’m not falling for your trick. 😉
Good job, IIda. Don’t fall into the trap!!!
As you pointed out, there are only presumed candidates at this point, and the options are limited to bad or worse, so we have nothing to lose by looking around.
I have been reading Cielito Habito (Daily Inquirer) for 2 years, and he seems to have a wide range of knowledge and some Political savvy.
Habito served concurrently as Director-General of the National Economic and Development Authority and Socio-Economic Planning Secretary during the Ramos administration.
He graduated UP Los Baños with a degree in Agriculture, majored in Agricultural Economics; Summa Cum Laude.
He is consistent in his views of addressing inequality and poverty, increasing Agriculture Sector contribution to the GDP, and understands the value of applied research, which is lacking in Philippines.
Also, in order to amuse more people, why don’t he try being a macho dancer as well considering he is already a carpenter, delivery boy and traffic cop…

Dear Mr. Roxas (or any representative of LP here)
Ilda is right ,Mar’s blood color is yellow forever
If Mar became the head ,he just continued to blame Gloria of what went wrong on Abnoy’s daang baluktot..No reconciliation or pardon to does enemy of pnoy..He will continue the happy days of Liberal Party that always in party mode on corruption..God bless the nationalista Party
and who would you vote for? and why not binay or poe? enumerate also your reasons. will wait for your next post
she wud not reveal it. it will lessen the impact of her commentaries. she wud like to portray herself as neutral,at least this time. one thing is sure she is in favor to Mar`s rival(maybe to the closest rival).
Yes, of course I am neutral. 😉
Who is Mar’s closest rival? Mar is not even high on the popularity survey.
Then why did you even bother to enumerate Mar’s shortcomings if you believe in the surveys? Like I said, worthless heckler. 😀
Your comment doesn’t make any sense. Like I said, my article is stating facts. It’s not worthless.
@egat: On the contrary. I believe a TROLL is much worse than a heckler. Look at your own comments…
@dio If you only use half a gram of your braincells, you would notice that the arguments I raised against the articles are valid. I wasn’t trolling at all. The author said she was just stating facts when in reality all the things she mentioned in the articles are just her opinion. It should have been titled “4 Reasons Why I Will Not Vote for Mar Roxas.”
Obviously, you don’t know the difference between heckling and trolling. Look at the condescending and insulting words you are using in your comments. Hopefully you’ll be enlightened.
@egat
What do you mean “the arguments I raised against the articles are valid”?
You have not addressed the points in the article at all. You just kept saying it is “worthless”.
@ilda Just read my comments and analyze them. If you can’t see the arguments, that is already your problem. I’m tired of your stupidity. Ho hum.
LOL…hay naku, wawa ka naman.
You already got tired from saying the article is “worthless”. 😉
@Ilda Haha. It’s really amazing how your brain works. I say one thing and you read another. I said I’m tired of your STUPIDITY. I’m not tired of saying your article is worthless. In fact, I will never get tired of saying it: YOUR ARTICLE IS WORTHLESS. If you would apply the 4 reasons you mentioned to ANY candidate or potential candidate for the presidency, none of them will win. Like I said, the “FACTS” you enumerated in your article are not facts at all, but your opinions on what you’ve seen and heard. Again, it should have been titled “4 Reasons Why I Will Not Vote for Mar Roxas.” That would have made a lot of sense. Do you get it now?
What makes you think I am “stupid”? Can you at least explain it?
Unfortunately, the 4 reasons only apply to Mar especially item number 4.
They are facts. Why don’t you address them one by one?
@Ilda Ok. I’ll humor you.
“What makes you think I am “stupid”? Can you at least explain it?”
If you had to ask why, no amount of explanation will ever make you understand.
“Unfortunately, the 4 reasons only apply to Mar especially item number 4.”
Again, wrong.
1. Mar Roxas doesn’t have the “it” factor.
Do you even know what the “It” factor is? Even if a person doesn’t have any of the examples you mentioned (death of parents, rugs-to-riches story) they can still have the “it” factor. How is it a fact that Mar Roxas doesn’t have “it?” Some people think he has it, some people don’t. A matter of opinion, not fact.
2. Mar Roxas is not his own man.
Do you know Mar Roxas personally? Or do you just watch him on TV or read him in the news? If so, your conclusion that he is not his own man is not a fact; just your own interpretation of events.
3. Mar Roxas is hot headed and cannot handle stress well.
Again, not a fact but your own opinion. Even if you are a professional clinical psychologist, you can’t state that as a fact just by watching a few videos.
4. Mar Roxas is married to Korina Sanchez — a potential gaffe machine.
The only fact here is that he is, in deed, married to Korina. But not to win because of that? Can you honestly tell me that is really a fact? Of course not. Opinion, yes.
You can apply all these reasons to any candidate. All you need to do is widen your imagination.
@egat
Well, if you are not even going to try and make me understand why you think I am “stupid”, then there is no point saying it over and over. Simply saying a person is “stupid” doesn’t really prove that she is one. I, for one, will not take your word for it. 🙂
1. You didn’t read or understand the article well. I said, in the Philippines, the “it” factor is whatever it is that appeals to the emotional crowd. Besides, whatever your definition is of the “it” factor, the bottom line is, Mar doesn’t have it. 🙂
2. Mar Roxas is not his own man and that is a fact. That is evident in the way he clings on to PNoy and his party-mates even when he knows PNoy did not include him in operation Oplan Exodus and even when his party-mates dismissed him like a nuisance candidate in 2010.
3. Mar Roxas is hot headed and cannot handle stress well. That is a fact as shown in the way he conducted himself during disasters and even in simple rallies. You can watch the videos of him in the link I have provided in the article.
4. Yes, unfortunately for Mar, a lot of voters will not vote for him because of Korina. They say they can’t imagine her as a first lady. And that is a fact.
You can only apply the 4 reasons I cited above to other candidates if they behave in the same way as Mar and if they are married to someone like Korina. Fortunately for them, it is not applicable.
@Ilda
1. You didn’t read or understand the article well. I said, in the Philippines, the “it” factor is whatever it is that appeals to the emotional crowd. Besides, whatever your definition is of the “it” factor, the bottom line is, Mar doesn’t have it. 🙂
Says who? You? A lot of people will not agree with you. And that is a fact.
2.Mar Roxas is not his own man and that is a fact. That is evident in the way he clings on to PNoy and his party-mates even when he knows PNoy did not include him in operation Oplan Exodus and even when his party-mates dismissed him like a nuisance candidate in 2010.
That is not a fact. That is your opinion. We can argue that that was just his strategy about his political plans, say.
3. Mar Roxas is hot headed and cannot handle stress well. That is a fact as shown in the way he conducted himself during disasters and even in simple rallies. You can watch the videos of him in the link I have provided in the article.
Again, your opinion. Maybe he’s just passionate. Arguable, but not a fact.
4. Yes, unfortunately for Mar, a lot of voters will not vote for him because of Korina. They say they can’t imagine her as a first lady. And that is a fact.
That is not a fact. Just hearsay. Did you talk to them one by one? All 40+ million voters?
You can only apply the 4 reasons I cited above to other candidates if they behave in the same way as Mar and if they are married to someone like Korina. Fortunately for them, it is not applicable.
Name one candidate/potential candidate that those 4 reasons would not apply to? Please don’t tell me Bongbong Marcos. That will just give me a heart attack. 😀
1.
Sorry, they are not enough to make him win the Presidency. (BTW, Just to throw this back at you: Did you talk to them one by one? All 40+ million voters?) 😉
2.
We don’t have to argue. For Mar to rely on PNoy – someone who did not even think about running for the Presidency until his party-mates forced him to consider it – means that Mar cannot think too far ahead. He did not have the foresight to realise that a lackluster senator Noynoy would result in a mediocre and disastrous Presidency.
3.
Describing him as “passionate” is just your way of softening his appalling behaviour during a life or death situation at the height of super typhoon Yolanda crisis. Thank goodness not everyone agrees with you.
4.
It’s not hearsay. There is hard evidence. You need to work harder by reading comments on various forums. You can also conduct a survey yourself asking people if Korina will affect a voter’s decision to vote for Mar. I don’t want to do it for you. Good luck!
Name one candidate/potential candidate that those 4 reasons would apply to.
@Ilda
I apologize. I was under the impression that you know the meaning of the word “fact.”
But, clearly, you don’t.
So no point arguing.
LOL…don’t tell me you are “tired”?
A fact is based on evidence or proof. You have this penchant for ignoring them.
Here’s a link to an evidence that there are people who would not vote for Mar because of item number 4. Just read the comment thread where someone said “No. 4 is the main reason why I won’t vote for Mar Roxas” and another said “No.4 is the No.1 reason why Mar will fail”.

Bye!
Hi, IIda. I am impressed with your super-human patience and stamina in your running dialogue with egat.
It seems egat is intent on promoting and voting for Roxas regardless of facts, records, public opinion surveys.
You did your best.
Thanks, Go RICO!
Some people are just plain hopeless. They turn a blind eye to bad behaviour just to achieve their agenda.
Egat is quiet, maybe taking his afternoon nap.
Take a break and get some rest while he’s gone.
@go Rico
Still here. Just got bored with your inanities and horrendous stupidity.
Oh, well.
Don’t look now, but someone here is suffering from a bad case of limited vocabulary…
Agreed, benignO. In his “world of one”, egat’s vocabulary is sufficient coz he talks to himself, but then I wonder, does he call himself stupid?
@go Rico
If you want to say something to me, say it to me directly. Are you that goddam yellow? Are you gay?
😀
Hahahaha, I already said it directly to you, which proves again what everyone suspected. You have zero capacity for comprehension, caused by your total focus on the voices in your head.
Am I Yellow? No, I’m medium white (Beige).
Am I Gay? No, but I can introduce you to some gays if that’s what you’re looking for.
@go Rico
Now, that’s better. 🙂
I don’t know if you’re joking about being medium white but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
Don’t bother introducing me to your gay friends. I have enough pest problems, than you very much.
😀
Tsk tsk tsk…some people think they can win an argument by calling their opponent “stupid”.
Any idiot can call anyone “stupid” (the Net is full of such people). But what separates the men from the boys is the ability to articulate a view alternative to the ideas of the person said idiot merely labels as “stupid”.
Still very desperate to sabotage this site eh engot este egat a.k.a. jigs the dakilang mangongontra?
@egat: See that? Everyone is right about you: you’re an actual TROLL. 🙂
@Ilda
That kind of desperation is already expected from a troll like this “egat” fellow.
Neutral? How??

. IF JUANVOTE<>ROXAS THEN JUAN$=”PRO BINAY”:GOTO 30
ENDLOOP
30 PRINT “JUAN IS “; JUAN$

Bobong pinoy nga naman oo mga sirang plaka.
Ilda, posing as a person with a sense of neutrality when you can’t even “state facts” about the other aspiring candidate is a coward act. Why be afraid if you are indeed neutral?
You contradict yourself. One can’t remain “neutral” once someone has become partisan.
Yo, Chaka. There is a difference between neutral and non committal.
L
Yo, Chaka. There is a difference between being neutral and non committal.
We’ll all wait here patiently for your preferred candidate and supporting arguments, allowing you a chance to prove how brave you are.
Reason #4 nails the coffin for ROXAS
I really cant buy-in to something which is extremely subjective, one-sided, incomplete and poorly researched.
Now, if this is your way of getting mileage out this article, then I hope that this be your last article as well.
How utterly cruel for you to say these things!
I WILL VOTE FOR MAR ROXAS DUE TO THE FOUR FACTORS:
1. He has the “IT” Factor since he has committed to continue the “Daang Matuwid” principle and has the endorsement of no less than the President himself, Benigno Simeon Aquino III! How cool is that?
2. Mar Roxas stands by his own principles and morals, and has the moral high ground to govern this nation.
3. Mar is the most level-headed person I have ever seen on TV.
4. His credibility sky-rocketed when he married Korina Sanchez, a top-notch journalist from the most unbiased news organization in the country.
EXCELLENT!!! Mar ROXAS will appreciate your vote.
See, Ilda? It is much much easier to contradict your rather sobering articles through fancy word play and unsupported fabrication of spins from biased media than to pose a more critical review of the actual qualification of the potential candidates. On a more serious note, I still have my reservations to choose a presidential candidate until the date of elections. I’d rather cook tons of popcorn during the mudslinging period (I mean, campaign period).
Please share.
Sure.
noytard alert–Where did U get that amazing propaganda..I guest U are working for the ABS CBN.
@Balisawsaw Propaganda is so easy with the Filipino simpletons even an 11-year old kid (5-year old looking) with a shih tzu snarl could do it.
And no, I am not working for ABiaS-CBN or something of that nature. I’m more amused with Lourd de Veyra scintillating rants.

no apologies would be made from them, they would rather glorify themselves just like Pnoys SONA.
it’s sad to think na we live in a world/country wherein the word APOLOGY is tied to WEAKNESS, particularly in POLITICS. They all bask in the glory of their PRIDE and HONOR.
this article is a bit one sided and i can definitely say that it’s not neutral, but then again, is there really such thing?we all take sides in the end, which side though?nobody really knows.
but i certainly agree that Roxas isn’t the best candidate and i sure hope he doesn’t win.
bastard is a coward who couldn’t stand against injustice. he’s a puppet. a collared dog of the liberal party.

Mar Roxas? ewww no, kamusta na kaya yung humingi ng tulong sa kanya doon? pagkakalam ko pinaalis na sa pinagtitindahan niya wala kasi siyang naitulong nagpamedia pa.
Nice article. Maybe you should try to add more about his hometown. Ever since he used to be a senator, he has not done anything good for his hometown. I guess that good deed was, monopolizing all the businesses like, Jollibee, Greenwich.. You can put up like KFC, mcdo in Roxas City unless you are allowed by them. How can he be a good president, if in the first place, he can’t even clean up his own backyard. No vote guaranteed from me and family.
Unfortunately, “things are not always what they seem”. I thought I read that somewhere..
you come in here…read one article and from that one article you deduce that this site is pro this, anti this, etc…maybe you need to read some more before you make a fool of yourself..di lang naman si roxas ang binibigyan ng pansin dito..all, who deserved to be, for the lack of a better word, “bashed” have been bashed here,…equal opportunity basher ika nga
Their logic is really baffling. Some of them just read the title and then come up with conclusion.
Jeez are you failipinos always love to accuse anyone that you hate only because the author is mentioning the “positives” of binay? Did noybita inspired you to do that thanks to his “gloria’s fault” irresponsible spiel? Look who’s the joke now indiot.
This comment is for that rommel actually but it looks like it’s gone now.
Korina as first lady is the past we will be condemned to repeat if we do not remember …
Pls don’t forget the incident at WackWack where Mar said ““T____ ina! Walang presi-presidente sa akin!” and “T____ ina! Walang bawal-bawal sa akin!!!” to the registration staff who informed him about the rules of the club on guests at the fairway. He was suspended for his bad behaviour.
And, then Margie Juico, the head of PCSO had to resign because her husband Philip Juico is the president of Wackwack Golf Club.
Thanks for the info, lemondrop!
Unfortunately, people like egat will simply ignore evidence of bad behaviour from Mar because they have been brainwashed to think he is PNoy’s successor.
lemondrop–U mean to say Mar has the same attitude like the great Jack ass in the palace “Vengeance is mine” . Wow WTF . Zero vote for LP and NP
i’ll probably be voting for marcos/duterte if ever they run for pres since i dont see anyone else fit for the spot. mar and binay are just meh…
nyaboron –How about Binay Trillanes tandem, Abnoy sure gonna like it
Why do people shove their beliefs and ideals down other people’s throats? Make up your own damn minds!
Dear Mr. Mar Roxas,
I respectfully suggest that you learn to behave like a statesman esp. in public.
I understand your image/popularity has been reeling from those slip of the tongue spur-of-the-moment “PI” … “T…Ina” uttered with that strong megaphone voice of yours.
If you just find it hard to unlearn the automatic “PI!” that just blurts out when they taunt you to the point you “turn Green”, here are some alternatives you may want to adopt:
1. “Utang ng Ina Mo!” (…bayaran mo na please)
2. “Tang Inomin Mo!” (…kahit sobrang tamis)
I am not sure if there’s one yet in the PH, but if you do get to the highest post in the land, please institute a “Manners for Politicians” school. I quite positive it will turn out to be another big industry HIT like the BPO golden egg you laid for this country.
Thank you for your time, and I do hope you do convince Grace to be your VP partner, coz if you go head-to-head you are sure to lose (partly because of all your “PI!” stunts in public).
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! May the best man win.

Hate to break it to you, but your comment makes up your own hypocrisy. 😀
the moment mar roxas gave up his candidacy over noy on 2010, he indirectly sent a message and admitted to the nation that he was a loser. and the moment his partymates chose noy over him in the midst of cory’s death only proved that he had no chance to win the presidency. cory’s death was an opening – a scapegoat to get rid of mar and put a winnable candidate may kapasidad man o wala.. mar used it (and still using it) to further boost himself -that he made a supreme sacrifice for the nation – but he knew very well na wala syang pag-asa.. he could have run pa rin if LP truly believes on his winnability and platforms and get noy as veep instead.. but even that scenario never existed.. i wonder..if grace poe wins the presidency, the VP would be the luckiest because he/she could be an instant President pag napatunayan na si poe failed to earn residency reqt or if she was still a US citizen pag nakaupo na sya..

This makes me so sad, no one will ever be right for the Filipinos. They do not deserve a good leader because people will always complain no matter what. I see people here rooting for Binay. That will be the doom of the country! No one sees how much our economy has changed. No, the Filipinos did not see that, but you can read it on articles that came from foreign countries praising Aquino for this. The foreign investors started trusting us more because they’ve seen the fight for corruption. Take a look at it, it’s been decades and no one has ever been prosecuted for corruption but we all know that everyone else is doing this ever since anyone can remember. it’s sad that foreign countries sees the Philippines finally progressing and the Filipinos are all blinded with their own woes that the government can’t fix for them. The Philippines is not considered a third world country anymore but one of the promising asian country. Let’s face it, years of corrupt presidents brought us in this situation, that’s how many decades sinking us. And you expected all that problems solved in one term?! We need to start seeing the bigger picture, that’s why i will vote for Roxas to succeed what the Aquino administration has started. The Aquino governance raised our economy and got rid of those corrupt officials that’s been sitting there. So it needs continuance for them to get to solving your problems now! It could not have been done with just one term but rather to have this vision continued by the succeeding leaders. And then we can finally get there.
Right??? It’s time to burst some fancy bubbles.
Highlighting the flaws of Roxas or pnoy doesn’t make one pro Binay or vice versa. Your false dilemma is too obvious.
Pnoy seems to be chasing even begging for investments. While other ASEAN countries display their economic platforms and investors come rushing in.
Only enemies were “jailed” while the KKK buddies still roam free.
The Philippines is still a Third World country.
“Let’s face it, years of corrupt presidents brought us in this situation.” Pnoy is just the newest crop of corrupt presidents.
“So it needs continuance.” The failures and the corruption also. Go for it!
“It could not have been done with just one term but rather to have this vision continued by the succeeding leaders.” It seems pnoy never truly realized this.
Actually, what’s much more sadder is your long ass post is useless.
Useless, useless, useless, useless….
@Kathy. I for one, agree with you on many regards. To even consider Binay must have shown us how truly morally reprehensible many Filipinos have become.
Demoralised by so many corrupt to the core administrations in the past, it seems as if even with all the wider accessibility of information on each of the candidates running, people still stubbornly cling to old, dirty ways – I do not know if that is because it’s been due to survival, since most in around the country remain in loyal to anybody who pays them mind and keeps them from getting hungry.
Yes, I have been living here in Australia and admittedly, in as much as I am not an adamant supporter of Aquino Jr. I haven’t found others to be any better – and even are worse than pigs in the mud in terms of their level of integrity.
Elitism can not always be bad – but Philippines has had a history of really rotten elites – scions of families that have old money not because they’ve merited them, but because of that never-dying culture of tribalism among themselves had allowed them to resort to thieving and pocketing off the wealth of others.
Grace Poe, and the rest of the candidates…if only Duterte runs – he could have been our last vestige of hope to really turn things around for the nation radically. But I guess he’s feared of his own impulses to possibly lend himself to the corruption or that there might be others, who hate his guts, would try to take his own life while he is in power.
Still, he could at least have tried to make a stand as a way to really proclaim a big f$^k you to these arseholes in the senate. Can Philippines still be helped? Well, help is dependent really on how truly people really give a damn about progress. Well, how would they have known the spirit of progress. It really should start by purging the trash mass media that’s been generating so much poison in people’s minds. Hello, people, you now have your smart phones now – please do now some more research instead of resorting to mind-numbing filth?
Haha sorry, got carried away, but anyone here can see my point.
I rest my case.
The points raised in this article are clear enough, even if one of your examples was taken out of context.
Despite this, I believe this will help voters in 2016. Any similar articles on Poe, Binay, Lacson, Escudero and Duterte? We need reminders on the ill attitude of the rest of the presidentiables. Don’t stop at Roxas.
egat says-n I disagree to you about Mar about masaspano insident. Brainless pnoy need’s the whole fleet of his cabinet on this sensitive mission, remember that Mar is one of pnoy prime adviser from bribing senatongs and tongressman now what they called Delivery Boy.If Mar’s name was involved to the scandals ,at means byebye to 2016 ambition, if only Pnoy was involved,no integrity damage was done to Mar.” Puro kasinungalingan party” like LP party. I think pnoy just follow his cabinet headed by your mentor Mar is responsible to all disaster happend to Abnoy daang baluktot
If Korina dies, the outpouring of grief will catapult Mar to the Presidency.
beleive me, pilipino voters are not yet politically matured, in short ignorant, thats why mar roxas will not win
Yeah. Mar is decent. But I still wish that Duterte really ran. I am sick of the clowns running the country.
Vote for Lagay Madurukot.puro gago din lang maga boboto sa election maglokohan nalang sigurado kalokohan lang ang magiging election, meron na bang matinung election sa Pinas.
Better aleternatives, Merriam Santiago for Pres, and Bong Bong Marcos as VP or Duterte for Pres and Santiago for VP. I will never vote again for any LP.
Merriam Santiago had been running for presidency since I was freakin’ 7 years old. I am now 24 and still persisting? Just quit it already! I even heard of Lacson having found her also connected to some shady business while in her position. Not one of them at present in Malacanang hasn’t proved to be worthy of leadership…all except Duterte. We need a good bloody tyrant like him now more than ever.
I am not Aquino supporter but I gotta be either callous, jaded or completely sedated in the brain to even consider Marcos Jr. to be a leader. Because with Filipino culture, family ties and values never die hard. The apple isn’t far from the tree.
And I’m sorry Marcos apologists, but Filipinos deserve much better – waaay better than him to be our president. Please, it’s embarrassing enough that I get asked by some of my college educated acquaintances of different nationalities – especially one from South Korea – commenting about Imelda’s shoe fetish and how low our GDP is.
I have learned that Philippine culture isn’t like Australia or any other Western culture where it is more individualistic and therefore capable of objectivity in choosing who deserves their place in power.Their politicians do not usually go by the family crime mentality that has plagued our country.
I vote for leaders who have earned their merit. Duterte has surely passed this test, and we have been able to find the fruits of his labour. The rest have been collectivist zombies for corruption. Anyone can go to college and earn high distinctions but not anyone can really be competent and incorruptible when given that power. The ghost of the Marcoses along with their former cronees…all that entire legacy of that humiliating generation must be purged and make room for brighter, more determined, uncorrupted voices for progress.
@ Cathy
As you have said in your other comment, we have smart phones now, and we have to research. Well I am throwing this back to you.
People coming from your generation are always too quick to accept something they read on the net. You fail to dissect things and analyze each fiber. Judging from all your opinions, it is evident that you have picked it up along the net and simply said, yeah right, okay.
For a start, you can read about MDS, nope, wiki won’t cut it. Go deeper, iha. You’ll find that she has more than enough track records that you require.
Also I recommend you polish on your logic. As BBM is not his father. Try to listen to the statesman that he is and be enlightened.
You are saying Mar is decent? You might not have heard him curse personally, and you call him decent? Which only proves your lack of information.
Please, iha, spare us from your shallow rantings.
Yung Hindi Corrupt[.]”
That is like waiting for Jesus Christ’s second coming. It’ll never happen because,
‘The Philippines is corrupt because the people are corrupt; the people are corrupt because their culture is corrupt; the culture is corrupt because the people’s values are corrupt.’
Aeta
To add insult to injury, the population of domestic helpers in both local & abroad would surely vote against Roxas for having a wife who at one time demonstrates an extremely violent behavior against her own housemaid.
while you’re at it why not write an article on why…..
1 binay cant win
2 poe cant win
3 santiago cant win
4 everybody else cant win
are you expecting a perfect president?there is no such thing.
if you don’t have an alternative then you have to choose the least evil.
Monseignor, whom would you support and why?
i’ll give you my opinion if you publish yours first.
Here’s another one that Mar Roxas will not win on next year’s presidential election. Just ask Rody Duterte on Dec. 10, the day that Comelec will announce the lists of official candidates of next year’s election for president, VP, senate & party list reps.

Thanks for reading, Milan!
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales highlighted the country’s gains and major achievements in the fight against graft at the 6th Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in St. Petersburg, Russia.
As head of the Philippine delegation, she delivered the Philippine statement to over 1,500 representatives of 160 signatory states and more than 60 heads of national anti-corruption agencies in the conference held this week.
Highlights include the Integrity Management Program of 2014, the Anti-Corruption Plan of 2015-2018 and passage of legislation that strengthened the anti-corruption court Sandiganbayan. All the efforts have gained international recognition.
Citing the country’s new ranking in the most recent Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) of Transparency International, Morales pointed out that “in a span of five years, among the 174 countries surveyed, the Philippines’ ranking has improved by 54 notches, from 139th place in 2009 to 85th place in 2014.”
She emphasized that “we cannot afford to pause and lose momentum. We celebrate our gains, but our optimism is tempered by the problems that persist, as well as challenges that may emerge.”
Morales also drew the connection between economic development and the fight against corruption, noting that the Philippines recognizes the vital role of the rule of law and accountable governance in economic development.
What’s this got to do with Mar Roxas?
Philippines credit rating raised to Investment Grade
Fitch Ratings has upgraded the credit rating of the Philippines to the investment grade status, a level which promises a surge of capital inflow from both local and foreign investors.
In a statement, the debt watcher said that it has raised the country’s Long-Term Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to ‘BBB-‘ from ‘BB+’. The Long-Term Local-Currency IDR has been upgraded to ‘BBB’ from ‘BBB-‘.
The Outlooks on both ratings are Stable. The agency has also upgraded the Country Ceiling to ‘BBB’ from ‘BBB-‘ and the Short-Term Foreign-Currency IDR to ‘F3’ from ‘B’.
Standard and Poor’s raised the country’s foreign and local bond ratings last July to BB+ from BB while Moody’s Investors Service, known to be the most conservative among the three major credit watchdogs, also raised the its ratings last October to Ba1 from Ba2.
The credit watchdog cited the country’s strong fiscal condition, resilient economy, moderate inflation, and a potential for more growth, as reasons for the upgrade.
Fitch noted that the Philippine economy has been resilient, expanding 6.6% in 2012 even as the global economy slows down. A strong domestic demand has kept the economy afloat, Fitch said.
“The Philippines has experienced stronger and less volatile growth than its ‘BBB’ peers over the past five years,” it said.
Fitch said that it sees the Philippines economy growing by 5.5% in 2013.
Fitch praised the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) inflation policies, which kept inflation with the range of the ‘BBB’ rating.
The agency also said that the praised the country’s expanding the fiscal revenue base, as well as further improvements in the structure of the Philippine sovereign debt stock.
The Philippine economy, as measured by GDP, grew by 6.8% in the fourth quarter of 2012, bringing the full-year growth to 6.6%, higher than what is expected by above higher-end of the 5* to 6% target of the national government.
The increase was fueled by the strong performance of the Services Sector, pushed by Trade, Real Estate, & Business Activities. The sustained improvements in the Manufacturing and Construction subsectors also contributed largely to the current level of growth.

PNoy spent P3 billion to ensure that credit rating agencies give favourable ratings to the country.
That’s what I call excessive!
Lemme get this straight, PNoy spent 3 billion pesos to credit rating agencies so the Philippines can get high credit rating so they can borrow money?! That makes a lot of sense. NOT!

Were you talking about PNoy when you said “good leader”?! That’s just laughable. And the only thing you can attribute to PNoy is the positive credit rating. That’s just pathetic considering he spent billions to get it.
Like I said before, BS Aquino’s supporters often cite the economic growth rate and a few credit rating upgrades the country has achieved during his term.
Noynoy Aquino is the worst president the Philippines ever had
The truth is, a lot of Filipinos lost their moral compass as soon as BS Aquino started his term. That was when disrespect for the country’s institutions and failure to uphold the rule of law became acceptable in Philippine society. Prior to BS Aquino’s term, most Filipinos were united against corruption. Prior to his term, a lot of people rallied outside on the streets or supported those who did so.
The Black and White movement – a movement organized by the upper class members of society – rallied alongside militant groups like Bayan Muna and Gabriela – groups organized by the middle class fighting for the lower class. Nowadays, some people, mostly from the Black and White Movement who are now allied with the incumbent, have become confused and have turned a blind eye to the corruption and gross incompetence that pervade BS Aquino’s government.
Of course the President’s supporters – those who are beholden to the Aquino name – will deny any wrongdoing by the President and defend his actions by saying that “the end justifies the means”. That’s what they say every time BS Aquino persecutes a sick and frail former President Gloria Arroyo by talking about her alleged “crimes” in front of the media. Yes, the right to presumption of innocence is now a lost concept for many Filipinos because of BS Aquino. People are now quick to assume someone is guilty once the media allied with the incumbent says someone is “corrupt”.
In his Manila Times column, former Arroyo administration-era Cabinet Secretary Rigoberto Tiglao revealed that the national government shelled out some P3 billion to ensure that credit rating agencies such as Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch give favorable credit ratings to the country.
Show your evidence first…everybody knows who’s the one barking here!!!former Arroyo administration-era Cabinet Secretary Rigoberto Tiglao… hehehe
Focus on the message of and not the messenger.
Nope, people should always consider the source of the message.
nope. you got it wrong bud…that’s why the saying, don’t shoot the messenger…
Just because you don’t like Tiglao doesn’t mean what he is saying isn’t true. Sometimes you learn more from people who disagree with you rather than those who agree with you.
they’re coming out of the woodworks…hahaha…kitchen’s getting too hot for the citizens of the Republic of the Yellow Ribbon..
They are feeling sorry for Mar Roxas, that’s why. He’s not going to win anyway.
The messenger on this instance is my computer, and the source? An anti-Philippine website. Consider the source people!
What makes the website anti-Filipino leroy jenkins the asshurt drama queen? Is it because they’re shattering your dysfunctional culture and pride?
Tiglao is just like of who you are…Since you are against this Admin…We will never expect to hear any good words or praises from you to commend all those good things achieved by this gov’t…You can only see all those negative circumstances which are sometimes beyond control by both Pnoy and Roxas, and yet people like you are always grabbing the opportunity to to drag and entangle them to the issue… Nobody can tell who’s going to win anyway until the poll has been concluded..Unless you think to yourself you are GOD, who can predict anything…Please think of what a embarrassment it may bring not only to yourself if the result turns out to be different on what you’ve been predicting and written in here……It is a couple of SLAP on your face if it will happen I’m sure…
Of course we acknowledge that there are things beyond PNoy’s control like the weather. But the issue we have with him (and Roxas) is his lack of preparedness and his insensitive plus arrogant reaction afterwards. He is also too proud to apologise for his government’s shortfalls. Furthermore, he is quick to absolve his cabinet members from accountability even when they are incompetent and unqualified for the posts.
In other words, Noynoy is no different from the past administrators he is too fond of blaming.
I can already tell you now that I won’t be embarrassed because I have been writing about Noynoy since 2009 and most of the things I said about him have been proven true. Same thing with Roxas. Trust me, I wish I was wrong about them but unfortunately, I am right.
You keep criticizing how Filipino think of themselves as something more they are not, but you’re doing the same, you think highly of yourself and your goal is to influence other people to change? Chit please.
Para kang birhen na naniniwala sa pag-ibig ng isang puta!
Says the failipino who can’t think of solutions because he’s a coward and very proud of it by hiding his head on the land.
Just a copy paste info…
To demonstrate Aquino’s popularity on a global scale, Time magazine has for instance portrayed Aquino as the “the face of the regional confrontation with Beijing over its claim to virtually all of the South China Sea” and praised his “brave stance” on this issue. Meanwhile, the giant credit rating agency Moody’s, which is currently reviewing the Philippines candidacy for an investment-grade status, has praised Aquino for placing “the economy on the right course via infrastructure development, with a focus on upgrading transport links; an anti-corruption push; a drive to halt tax avoidance; and improved government coffers,” while emphasizing how the Philippines’ continued success as a new bright spot in Asia “will depend on who takes the reins when Aquino steps down in 2016.” In short, Aquino is seen as the pivot of the country’s economic and political comeback.
VEHICLES SALES IS THE TRUE INDICATOR ON HOW THE COUNTRY’S ECONOMY IS PERFORMING…Pls. read..These are all facts…
Vehicle sales zoomed 30% to 234K units in 2014
The Philippine automotive sector continued its strong rally throughout 2014 as vehicle sales rose 30 percent to 234,747 units from 181,283 units in 2013.
In a statement, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) explained that this record performance was backed by robust sales in all product categories.
“This growth in the passenger car sales was largely fueled by the successful introduction of several new models and wider acceptance of small car product category,” said Campi president Rommel Gutierrez.
According to Campi, the passenger car segment exhibited the highest growth rate of 48 percent with sales of 90,287 units compared to the total sales of 61,083 units in 2013.
The commercial vehicle segment also performed well with a sizeable increase of 20 percent to 144,460 units in 2014 compared to 120,200 units sold in 2013.
Within the commercial vehicle category, light commercial vehicles showed a significant volume increase of 26 percent with sales of 93,589 units for 2014 compared to the 74,398 units sold in 2013
Toyota Motors Philippines Corp. remained the biggest player with a 45-percent market share, while Mitsubishi Motors ended the year in second with a 21-percent share. Ford climbed to third with 8.7 percent while Isuzu finished fourth with 6 percent. Honda completed the top five with 5.7 percent.
For 2015, the Campi-TMA group expected sales to reach 272,000, or an additional volume of 37,000 units for a projected growth rate of at least 16 percent. This was on the back of continued improvement of the economy, increased government spending in preparation for next year’s national election and the positive impact of the projected continued decline in world fuel prices.
Of this volume, passenger cars and commercial vehicles will take up 40 percent and 60 percent respectively.
Gutierrez expressed confidence that the 2015 total industry demand could easily exceed 300,000 units
A moment of silence for the Mar Roxas’ presidential ambition
I like this! I understood every message it want to give… 🙂 Thanks Ms. Ilda… perhaps our people used their critical analysis regarding this. 🙂
I am not pro Mar Roxas because up until now I am still analyzing the candidates for Presidency but allow me to share a story.
A story shared to me by a Filipina nurse here in Switzerland. After typhoon Yoland hit our country, she and her German friends were one of the first medical response team to arrive in Tacloban from Europe. When they arrived at Tacloban they were clueless on where to set up their tents and to which place they should start. It was very late in the evening and as we all know, there is no electricity in the area. Fortunately, this Filipina nurse was able to recognize a man roving and inspecting the area with a team using their flashlights. It was DILG Sec. Mar Roxas.
The medical team from Germany asked for his help so they can start their mission in that devastated area. The following day they were able to set up their tents in a good location. It took them a while because the roads were inaccessible. They even had to use a helicopter and to coordinate with the military to survey the area and the story goes on. The team was successful in their 14-day mission in Tacloban.
Of course only few know this story because there are no cameramen to capture these moments. To be fair with Mr. Roxas, he don’t usually perform his job in front of cameras to let the people know that he is working. It is very unfortunate that he was the DILG Secretary when Yolanda hit Tacloban. Almost everyone in the country was not prepared with the vastness of damage it has brought our country. But knowing that Mar Roxas was there to personally assist, help and command his team is something worth sharing.
@Johhanne
Hhmm…Mar was able to help a foreign medical response team to set up their tent even when there wasn’t any camera to capture his deed and now he is worthy to become President? Gees…that is what I call a classic case of “pwede na yan” mentality.
As DILG secretary, you should consider the fact that it was part of his job. It was nothing heroic.
Exactly! Well Said!
for what mar roxas is today, he has nobody to blame but himself..if the story is true and i am not refuting it as i was not there, it was decent of him..now,if he was able to do this outside of camera range, why the hell did he have to shot himself in the foot and got foot-in-mouth disease when he was facing the cameras? my guess and this is only my opinion, mar roxas gets rattled when there are other people watching him or if he is in front of cameras..he freezes under pressure…if he was able to help that team from germany with nobody knowing about it except for the anecdote here, is because there was no pressure..no cameras, no crowd and he was able to deliver…but let him ride a bike or a trike, let him speak under pressure and he gets frazzled and he hangs himself..
I think there are other reasons why Mar Roxas won’t win (should not win) in the upcoming presidential election aside from what you mentioned. But, assuming, for the sake of argument that this guy gets lucky and wins, whadduthingk would happen? Let me picture these scenarios:
I) B S Aquino will definitely get all legal assistance from battery of charges that may come his way after his term ends (can’t wait for this) and will find it easy to use the “back door”, if worse comes to worst, and B S Aquino needs to flee.
II) We will see the return of Dinky (pabebe hair) Soliman of DSWD, Armin (poker face) Luistro of Deped, Florencio (more face to wash, less hair to comb)Abad of DBM, Proceso (the bagman) Alcala of DA and most notably Bert (bukas-balikbayan box gang leader) Lina of BOC. These people are mainly responsible for the endless woes of each and every filipino, i.e, OFWs, students, the marginalized sector and even the poor victims of calamities like Yolanda.
III) There may not be a change in the economic policies since LIBERAL PARTY, where Mar belongs, will see to it that what B S Aquino started will continue under his term. And the country will continue to be the “sick man” in Asia.
IV) Finally, and I dread this day to come, Korina Sanchez will become the First Lady of the Republic of the Phils…..
But let me hasten to add that if Mar Roxas is really destined to become the President of the Republic of the Philippines (as what happened to B S Aquino)then we don’t have a choice but to respect that. Work with him. Support or criticize, whichever is necessary if only to ensure the smooth transition and for the next presidential wannabes to take over until we finally restore the same spot we had in the ’60s where Philippines is second only to Japan…..
You nailed it and have the same perceptions.
just don’t vote mar roxas….no guts and balls….he cannot manage his stress….
whatever you say or write, i am still for mar. thanks goodness, you are not the only voter. by the way, whom would you say will win? and would you vote for him?
And why is that?
Can you enlighten us on why you made that choice?
Sometimes the problem is not in the leaders but in the people too.
Someone very close to Mar might have to die so he can have a good chance of becoming s president,
Like the late president Cory Aquino’s husband and PNOY’s mum they too have died so Cory and PNOY can become a president.
“At that time, many saw Roxas’s move to give way to BS Aquino as a sign of weakness or lack of conviction” – i like it!
it only means that he lacks the will to govern.
i don’t really like his personality. his vice president doesn’t have a fix mind whether to run or not bec she’s a woman of her own kitchen.
both of them are being used as tools for one’s objective. they were infected by YEL-LOW-IQ syndromes.
so it is a RULING for us to beware of vicious wolves (Oligarchs)!
goodday, im a student from grade10 magkakaroon po kase kami ng dabate about mar roxas we are pro ,and idon’t know much about him so the best i do is to do research but, i as i read this. sa tingin nyo po ano po ang malakas na laban ng kalaban namin para manalo sila na sila po ay against? we are only doing this just for grade so we need to win this fight please reply asap 🙂 thanks:)
* wow *
i am speechless. are speedy answers more important than well-thought solutions? not enough time do do your own research? this query is just so… wrong.
kid, i recommend that you do not breed until you figure out why i am mocking your post.
Pamela, korek si T. yun nga lang, eh di ouch.
I’m afraid that you have very little to work with. I cannot help you at all. You can go to pro-Pinoy sites. They usually scrape the bottom of the barrel in praising Mar though.
Good luck! 😉
pamela, u can link ur FB account to Marcos loyalist group and learn all the things about them. u can also join on this forum. God bless.
who can forget what he did in the investigation about the Serendra blast at BGC in Taguig?. Fuck them both!
hahaha!!!! oh
yeaaahhh!!!
I would like to hear more about the incompetence. I was not there, probably you were not there. What makes it incompetent in an objective view wholistically?
What do you think would have been done better? And how?
So Roxas was incompetent according to what you’ve seen and heard from the media? Binay was vice president, what did he do? He was the opposition cheer leader trying to put the Aquino admin down when he could have helped them resolve the situation. Who is more competent than Roxas at this point? Miriam who claimed she has Stg 4 cancer? People with Stg4 cancer are thin like a stick figure and dies withing months even with advance treatment. Clearly Miriam is a liar and a lunatic. Or are you still maybe waiting and hoping Duterte will run? None of the other candidates by the way are in favor of American help in the So CHina Sea, only Roxas. Binay will sell our claim the minute he wins and pocket the money, Miriam does not even want EDCA, Duterte want to be friends with the Chinese to and willing to compromise our claim. Now you tell me why you think Mar Roxas is incompetent. Yolanda was the worst storm in the recorded history of the world, to expect a miracle turnaround from a 3rd world leadership is plain stupid. Mamasapano was a disaster because Aquino and Purisima did a shi tty job planning and coordinating it. Why are we blaming Roxas when he has no involvement and direct supervision of this matter?
yeah?? why blaming? try to research why. And you`ll know. The responsibility of a DILG secretary. and the yolanda? haaaiiixt!!! i dont wanna talk about it.
1. The “it” factor
This is true only for Pnoy because looking at the past presidents, they had only power and some money. This emotional approach may only be used as a campaign tactic but in the end, it will always go back to their quality of service and how they’ve helped common people.
2. His own man?
Putting aside his accomplishments as a representative and DTI secretary simply implies that this write-up only focused on his negative side. Mar authored bills that focused health, education, and job generation. He had a mind of his own and is focused on improving the country’s economy form its roots, the micro, small, and medium enterprises which simply implies that he has his own perspective and ways on how to manage the country if ever.
3. Hotheadedness
The media doesn’t show everything. That is all i have to say.
4. Korina
This is poisoning the well, the well being Mar’s family and personal affairs. Well actually it is very sound that Korina’s presence may affect Mar’s governance but nonetheless, it should still be Mar that the people will look at.
my home town is in roxas city. and for your information… (the one who`s contradicting about the post and defending mar roxas) roxas is not what you think he is in front of many people. you will only know him if there is someone (let`s say a relative) who`s needing a help from him (like hospitalization) and he would just answer you……. “BAYAD KANA” what can you say about that? a small help can`t hurt a pocket right.?. i just laugh as i remember.
and korina??? if mar will fortunately (i just wish it wont) take the position?? korina won`t prepare this boxes of alcohol. hahahaha!!!! she`s happy by then not able to touch this kids from under the sun and give them tsinelas!! maybe she would just send it by through LBC and let the kids get it for themselves. haha!!! kag kun si mar magdaog??? aysus!!! madumduman gidman ang roxas city.. siguro??? hahaha!!!! well… he already remember his lolo (manuel roxas) birthplace because its nearly election. poster here. poster there.
can you please leave out “BS” every time you say Philippine President Benigno Simeon ‘BS’ Aquino III. Sounds to me like it is deliberately done in an artistic way to say “Bull-Shit” Aquino (i do believe this is true though) PNoy or NoyNoy or whatever is good enough for me. just stop repeating it. It is irritating to the eyes.
@ron..it’s his name ain’t it? so why be bothered if he is called BS Aquino? you’re the one putting malice on the initials BS..Benigno Simeon, BS for short..fits him to a tee
arguments against or for any candidate have great bearing if the electorate can read, reflect and react. the process of gathering and weighing substantial information is essential in discernment so as to be able to make the right decision. the problem of any democratic election which supposedly is not rigged, is simply the voting maturity of the electorate. each Electorate “deserves” the people they elect. And the Elected reflects the electorate. Thus the value of knowing the “mettle” of a candidate, on the part of the electorate, decides who wins and who loses in a fair election. to see both sides of the coin is not only good but also wise. Mabuhay Ilda!
If I were to write this article, I will exactly say the same things from #1-3. Then my #4 will simply say – “KORINA SANCHEZ”. Obviously, no explanation needed. Just thought it’s funny! 🙂
Only 1 reason why roxas wont win elections. HE’S A COMPLETE IDIOT
WHY WE DONT TRY MAYOR RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE FOR THE HIGHEST POSITION…HIS RECORDS OF GETTING DAVAO CITY FROM HISTORIC BATTLE GROUND TO 9 SAFEST CITY IN THE WORLD CAN ANSWER ALL OF OUR SEARCH TO FIND A GOOD PRESIDENT.. DUTERTE2016
“9(th) SAFEST CITY IN THE WORLD” title for the Davao is a long shot. It’s a spin. It’s a lie repeatedly told to be true. It’s from a Numbeo survey in which less than 500 respondents participated. Police records show that every 80 minutes, one “index” crime occurred in Davao City in 2014. Now the Davao death squads keep suspected criminals im check. Problem is: who will check those who do the checking on a national scale in a Duterte presidency? I’m happy that you’ve found a “good” president in Duterte. I’m still searching for one. Convince me. http://gulfnews.com/news/asia/philippines/one-crime-every-80-minutes-in-davao-city-1.1660705
Excellent article. I agree with all your points. It really boggles me why some people think that Mar is clean of corruption. Just connect the dot in what happened to the billions of foreign and local aid given to Tacloban. Where is the accounting for that?
Have you personally seen Tacloban right after Yolanda struck? I had relatives there and had to go and saw the devestation first hand. For me it is only Satan himself who would rob the victims of Yolanda. For me, Mar and his cohorts are foul serpents worse than Binay.
Why Mar wont win?
Simple, even his kababayans in Roxas City wont vote for him.
I dunno how true. But during the 2010 elections he lost to Binay in his home turf. Now that really means something is wrong with him.
Mar fuked up many times… he’s gonna fuk this country for sure if he becomes president.. he’s gonna fuk us all til kingdom come.. roxas arse kisser.
Adding insult to the injury is the fact that Korina got the ire of medical doctors several years ago when she degraded the services of makati med consultants
sige botohin ninyo yong mga artista ,hahahah
I think BS aquino is deliberately undermining Mar’s chances of winning 2016. Mamasapano, MRT, LTO mess, laglag bala, SSS; everything to make Filipinos think twice about voting for Mar. Why? Because he knows Mar will lose miserably and with it, the real prospect of BS going to jail. He just can’t risk that. He may supoort Mar on the surface but once he knows who’s the real frontrunner, expect BS to jump ship. It’s that or BS is just monumentally stupid with his verbal diarrhea. Either way, Mar will never be president.
I totally agree with your observations simply because these are the very reasons why I will not vote for Roxas.
For Roxas bashers. Ping Lacson supports and campaings for Mar.
Ngunit kelan nga ba ang isang bagay ay totoo, at kelan ito’y imahen lamang?
‘You are a Romualdez, and the President is an Aquino’. Sadly, these words had been twisted so badly it continues to create a ripple till now.
The biggest victims are not the Taclobanons but the truth and decency.
It took 2 years after Yolanda’s devastation for Romualdez to come clean. On
November 8, 2015, he apologised to PNoy for putting him and his government in a bad light.
Full quote from Afred Romualdez (November 8, 2015) sa Tacloban:
“Nais ko lang sabihin sa lahat minsan po when we are in our most desperate times and moments we do not bring out the best in us but, I salute Taclobanons for doing their best,” he said even as he thanked President Aquino and the national government for extending assistance to the Yolanda survivors. “Minsan po nakakapagsalita kami ng mga maaanghang na salita pero at no given time are we ungrateful for all the help that was given to us.

then try to speak sa mga taong unfortunate and pinagsinungalingan nya!
tsss mar roxas is one of a bunch of shits
There is still one way for Mar to win…
If he lost korina and his children and acts like it was a great lost and he has nothing more to lose.. this might covince people to vote for him
Nice article! At least your opinion has factual basis. I can cite other reasons why Mar will not win but will keep them to myself. The four reasons you have cited are more than enough. ^_^
Thanks for this article. But by the looks of it pointing towards 2016 direction up to Presidential Election on May 9, your article seems to likely be the opposite of what Mar Roxas is really showing these days.
Its my opinion..i don’t like daang matuwid. Life is so unfair, asan n c purisima…anung nangyari s kaso niya di b wala kc maka administrasyon cya…di lng cya marami ring taga administrasyon ang nkatanggap pero anung nanyari wala.
The Best part of Democracy is that Everybody has a voice. The worse part? Everybody has a voice.
Truth be told, except Binay all three presidentiables will be good for the country. But the only one’s who can really effect change are the people themselves. There is no overnight cure for the problems faced by the country. I for one is for Mar, simply for the reason that i want continuity with the initiatives and improvements in governance and eradication of graft. It is no way perfect, but with the people’s watchful eye a lot can be improved. I see a lot of complaints regarding the current administration and yet I haven’t really seen factual proof regarding this comparisons other than subjective observations. Would be better if this site can put out a KPI (accepted worldwide for country performance)There is no perfect president but it least we will have some form of uniform standard of measure.
I see…a PNoy apologist.
Voting for Mar is like giving a seal of approval to all the atrocities and anomalies committed by the PNoy govt in the last six years. That’s how you perpetuate incompetence and mediocrity. You’re not going to succeed in infecting us with your moronic views, unfortunately.
Ilda, kaibigan ko, I must admit we do not have a good selection of presidentiables this election year. Perhaps Ma Ru is simply choosing the lesser of all evils. I myself have not made a selection yet due to the negative aspects of each candidate, which seem to trump the positive aspects. Which presidentiable would you choose?
Mar is not the lesser of all evils. He is not his own man. He was bullied into giving way to Noynoy in 2009. That says a lot about his character. He compromised his own principles just to please his allies. We don’t need another pushover like Mar.
Ma Ru, you speak of Aquino’s efforts to curb corruption as a justification to support Mar Roxas. What do you have to say about their potential corruption sa SAF 44? Sa totoo lang, if they are culpable, how can we trust Roxas bilang pangulo?
Damn politicians knows very well their days are numbered, they can use billions and their minions to get themselves reelected, Its not their money anyway, even they don’t win they can still keep their loot. Filipinos are fed up with crocodiles and pot bellied pigs, Well wait and see what hungry Filipinos will do with you I see lechons in the offing.
I am not watching the news. I am just watching if it’s interesting or just to know what’s happening in the Philippines. News or media is one of the bad influence – kinda control you and make you feel bad about yourself, about people. Sometimes reporters are overrated. Maybe, your article is correct about Mar. I agree that people are sympathetic when it comes to people who came from “rag to riches”, people can relate to that. But why we judge people base on what he had done wrong. We always see the bad things on people even he/she had done a lot in our country, the negative will always stick in our mind. If a corrupt person makes good impression, it will hide the bad things he had done. If a non-corrupt person done a little mistake, he/she is a bad person in the eyes of most people. No matter how many president we will have, there’re some people that will always see the bad things, there still crimes, rally, and corruption. People always comment, give feedbacks, see the bad things in the former president or future president. What I can see right now is out country got a lot of opportunities in terms of the job because there’s a lot of investors coming in, but why? Because investors trust the president and when they trust you, they will invest. More opportunities, more jobs. Over the next years, there will always corruption, unless people will be discipline. I can get it when people react to what the government does good and bad. Lahat nalang mali sa atin, wala nang tama. That’s what we do every elected president, that’s what most people do when they go to manila and do some rally. Why don’t help each and everyone? Honestly, I don’t like Binay and Poe, they are not who they say they are. So, if I am a voter I am down to the three candidates. To be honest, I don’t know who to vote because, if I will use my brain and see the bad things each of the candidates have done, I will never vote any of them. But if I am going to use my brain and my heart, I will see the good things they’ve done. It’s not all about us after all, it’s for our future generation. We need a person that will continue the good. It’s easy to say that “I can change the Philippines, I can give a lot of work, I can make the Philippines gain a lot of investors. But how will they do it? If we study those candidates during debates. We will see that some of them give a structure of how things will be done if they win. I am not biased here, that’s just what I thought. I hope we vote wisely. 🙂
Think of it this way: You’re a manager. And Mar is a subordinate working for you. He keeps saying he’s done stellar work when you know for a fact that another co-worker has done it and he’s simply taking the credit for it? Or, he hasn’t done anything other his ‘teka teka’ stance that has him in a perpetual cha cha step; no forward progression. Don’t even get me started on his stint in the DOTC and the mess he did with the MRT. As a manager would you give him a stellar appraisal as a worker? Because, essentially, as what his boss told the nation—despit reeking in bullshit—“Kayo ang boss ko”.
As a taxpayer you’re the manager and he’s supposed to be working for you. Keep doing that hippie “make love not war routine” to your staff and your business will shut down in less than a year.
What so far Mar did to our country that you’re taking advantage of today?
There are only 4 reasons why Mar Roxas will not win. But there are hundreds of reason why People will vote for him…
One of the reasons out of the four is enough for people to decide not to vote for Mar.
Care to tell us the “hundreds of reasons” you are talking about?
the hundreds will be lies and bushit
ida off topic muna ano ba tingin mo sa wharton degree ni mar roxa??
d kaya yung 100 reasons ay in cash or kind?
There is only one (1) reason why Mar Roxas will not win. He already lost to VP Jojo Binay in 2010 and people knew very well that all allegations of corruptions against VP Binay and his family were all fabricated by the camp of Mar Roxas to get even with the most popular President Jojo Binay. ????
From an outsider looking in I have to say that Roxas is the current Presidential candidate capable of continuing to rebuild the Philippines Economy from the ground up eventually leading to a better lifestyle for all Filipinos.
To Ilda:
“..alternative views normally not found in main stream media..”? Here’s one such view…
” Mar Roxas, obviously, had made a choice early on. He chose to be a follower, quietly obeying his superior and making his own opinions secondary to that of the boss. Observers, like all of us in these pages are, view this choice as either blatant ‘brown-nosing’, or, principled loyalty and devotion to duty. To my mind, he looks like a player in a losing team who is, (illogically), still ‘shaving points’; or, like a dutiful ‘chief mate’ who, inexplicably, is willing to go down with his captain and the ship. He may actually be both of these images. He probably knows and accepts the flaws.. warts, sores and all.. of his bungling friend and superior, even as he appreciates the problems of the country; but, like a loyal servant to both, he soldiers on.. engaging the ‘boss’ and ‘party’, while trying to mitigate negative results to the ‘country’. He might be thinking that loyalty to one’s superior, and service to the country are not mutually exclusive.
Loyalty and devotion are, indeed, very rare commodities nowadays. The polar opposites..’balimbing’ and ‘kurakot’.. are evidently the invariable inclination of today’s politicians. You wouldn’t strain your eyes to go looking for dishonest officials. They are all over the place. You would, though, if you tried to look for honest ones. They are as scarce as tits on a boar hog.
I am not sure that these virtues.. loyalty and devotion.. will get Mar Roxas very far. It could very well sink him and his ambitions for good. Perhaps this might be the price one has to pay if only to prove that some ‘good’ still glimmers on the horizon.
The one thing I am sure of, however, is our need for a ‘servant’ who is loyal and devoted to he country and her citizens.”
DUTERTE for the win!!!!!!
